what gun do you use

Citori Satin Hunter 12ga - 28"- Full and turkey full

Ithaca SKB 20ga- 28" Mod/full

870 Wingmaster painted with stovepaint as a backup.

1. My go to one is an 870 supermag w/ a good coat of paint and tape so I have to be carefull not to loose it when I lay it down.
2. Early season I will use a 20 ga. Express 870 with a coat of paint and tape...........
3. I do have a backup when traveling a long ways- guess what? 870 mag Express w/ paint and tape.
They started building them when I was born and still are, sounds like a good recommendation to me. I can teardown and reassemble almost blindfolded with tools in my pocket. And I am not to lazy to pump or recoil sensative that I need a gas gun. Most important reason is that when I pull the trigger it goes bang and then again and again.
All in good fun, isn't it great that we can even have this discussion?????

Don't need a single tool to tear down my gun. Also, when I pull the tigger the gun goes bang. No need to pull the trigger again and again as my gun hits the duck everytime on the frst shot.

Just funnin with you Tom.

Way to go Remington!!!! I knew you could make a last quarter rally.
Benneli is still way out there in front.

This really does show that there is a great variety of functional guns out in the marsh.

Looks like I'll be doing some work with Benneli's real soon.

Thanks again everyone

I'm partial to the nostalgia of a good classic S x S. I'm presently using a Zoli double, 3inch magnum chambers, 28inch barrel, with a raised rib. But like so many have already mentioned, you can't go wrong with a classic Rem wingmaster 870 mag. Open the fixed choke to im. cyl. and you have a 99.9% fail proof/no miss duck killer!

Im not sure if the "salty" tag is age related but the guys I hunt with...6 of us...have 4 (an 88, two 500's, and a 535)Mossbergs, One 11-87 (he pees in his waders, even when its not duck season!) and a Charles Daily O/U....ages are 16,32,34,38 and 41.....

Captain Jack,

I have a 12 and 20 guage set of 1100's w/ ventilated ribs..love them...did you get thre barrel threaded??? I was told to NEVER shoot steal or hevishot through them...Ive had them since I was 16, and would love to be able to use them duck hubting again!.....Any input would be appreciated...

"I like vegetarians, I eat them often"....

Jim,
I use an 1100 16 guage in early season, heck, off and on all season. Fixed modified plane barrel. Have seen no issue with steel shot. But then again, 16 guage steel loads arent all that impressive anyway, but still kill well over the decoys.

Hey Tom, I got a kick out of this: "[font=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica] Most important reason is that when I pull the trigger it goes bang and then again and again." Is your partner in the blind yelling, "Tom, kill it again, kill it again, and kill it again?" Does the bird fly off or do you have 3 floating in the slough?

I have two Brownings BPS one is a 3.5 with a 28 inch barrel the other one is a 3 inch with a 26 inch barrel. I like the Bps because of the top tang safety and the fact that it is a bottom ejector. I find myself using the 3inch model most of the time.

Al,

That right there is why Tom hunts alone, he doesn't like the nagging. :>) :>)

If his hunting partner is like someone I've hunted with he's saying "Did you shoot too?" when the ducks are floating on the water. :) Right there is another make of gun, one that shoots at exactly the same time you fold a bird.

Just joking if anyone who I have hunted with reads this.... but he knows who he is. :)
