4. Soaking up every ounce of my environment and being thankful that I can still do this marvelous thing called duck hunting. I love listening to the whistling of wings, the yips and howls of coyotes, the hooting of owls, watching a marsh hawk hunt,
catching a glimpse of a bobcat, seeing a phenomenal sunrise, and maybe shooting a duck or two. That is why I am out there.

I think you forgot the rattle of the snakes and the roar of the mountain lion?

I lost my son 5 years ago; he was 16.
I haven't duck hunted since.
My goal is to just get out.
My Chessie, Tucker, is now 6 years old and only has one season under his belt. Waste of a good dog. He's my third Chessie, as duck hunting used to be a way of life for me. I need to find the courage to go again and feel what I used to feel.
Have fun, be safe, enjoy the outdoors, relax and watch the birds work. I really enjoy meeting new friends in the field as well. It beats the heck out of sitting on a couch watching TV. A few days ago I had four ducks fly over my decoys at the end of the day and my friend asked why I didn't shoot. I don't really know the answer other than I had a big grin on my face and joy in my heart and that seemed like enough at that moment.
