What would you do???

I'll bet that after an hour or so you guys were just real tickled to be 9,000 miles away from home. I can imagine how a movie of that road trip would go. A few hours later you talk about hockey and Obama and then utter silence for 24 hours! Yikes...bet that sucked. Once again, you did the right thing and now it's over with. Chalk it up to experience.

I would do three things:
1.Call the AR DNR and tell them the story
2.Never pay money (cash) up front, and
3.If you intend to go anywhere on a guided hunt, get recommendations from your friends on this site.

No apology needed, I didn't take offense. I understood what you were saying, but I just wanted to give you and idea of the shot range.

My next trip will be better, I'm sure. I did this on a whim, because I trusted my friend and he bragged about the place.

The jerk string should have been in the guides hand, but for some reason he always sat on the other end of the blind. The e-caller was off, and he was using a mouth call, probably because I said something earlier.

I'll look into the Guides Association, and if I make it to Texas one year I'll have to give you a ring.

Jack lives in New York not Anarctica....brush up on your geography boy.....now go standin the corner for an hour....

Steve

I wish you could have heard half the conversation. Thankfully they slept most of the way.

I'm looking forward to another hunt, first I'll pick recommended guides from this site. It's a lesson learned.

On a good note, my duck season ended with some great shots with long time hunting buddies (who stayed home do to finances). The ice is thick and the Mute swans a dying, and I came across one with a neck collar and tarsel band. We can't hunt them here, but I reported the band info. Those neck collars are the size of a coffe cup! Sad to see them die off like that though.

round trip its still under the 9,000 miles, one way, between Ark and N.Y.

Pull my Barnegat out with you and we'll consider that the Guide Fee....if you need references I think I might be able to come up with at least one....

Steve

I like driving, but that trip might require a flight. The harlequin duck is a quest bird for me, someday I'll get out there and look you up... I owe you a few beers.

Why do you need to pull the Barnegat?? is it heading to NY??

Yeah Mr. Sutton, it must've seemed like 9,000 miles....GET IT! Now, go comb the spit balls out of what hair you have left!

BINGO

Live and learn.

am I supposed to "read your mind" to know what you "meant" instead of what you "said"...as in .... "you guys were just real tickled to be 9,000 miles away from home"..... I sure don't see "seemed it" in that sentence.....

That said don't get your thong in a bunch Jaylene....I was just kidding when I posted......you know...smiley face, winky face......

Steve

I've got a Miles boat sitting in Atlanta that I need out here...one of these days I'm going to figure out how to get it from there, to here......

Harlequins we can definately do.....and I know just the spot for those beers.....

Steve

Hey, who is banding the mutes? those %##$% things were "estate" swans on the island back in the day---now they are just pests---Cannot ever remember seeing tundras up on the north shore, but there were always mutes--even in the winter, where i skated on beaver dam! mill neck area. raised in locust valley
Suggest you find good hunting partners, who will become fast friends---it takes a while, but when you get lucky and find a few, they will become family-trust me on that!!

"That said don't get your thong in a bunch Jaylene....I was just kidding when I posted......you know...smiley face, winky face......"

Well I'm not kiddin' at all...you're getting old if you didn't notice the obvious exageration and sarcasm. I'm mean seriously....you must be needed a cup of coffee er sumpin. ;)

now go pull your thong out of the crack of your butt you big whiney baby.....

(p.s.....look closely for the "obvious sarcasm" before you start pouting Jaylene)....

Steve

Who said anything about pouting....while you were all cranked up I hammered some wild turkey breast and fried it with Kentucky Kernal seasoning for the kids for dinner and got permission on a new 80 for our late goose season which opens Sunday. It invigorated me!

Enjoy that juice!

You did the right thing by leaving!! I would out those clowns to the local DNR. I know it was your first guided hunt but don't be discouraged by the actions of a few idiots. I've been on a few guided hunts and they always went well. Try to get references, even if you know people who've been with the guide before. The more objective opinions the better. Just remember even the pros have a bad day and they can't control the game your pursuing. As long as the guide/s provide you with excellent service and some opportunity at the game your pursuing you've had a good day and probably got what you paid for. Good luck next time!

Sounds like this particular guide fits under the 1-800- U- SUCK catergory. If you paid him by check do a stop payment. Not only out him on the internet but report him to the Arkansas Wildlife commission.

Arkansas doesn't need such as this guy besmirching their rep. We don't need someone involved in waterfowl hunting playing into the hands of PETA and other anti-hunting groups.

I'm pissed off about this too.

Better luck with you next guide service,
Harry
