Wow, awesome bird Roy, i admire your work!!

I hope this doesn't cheapen the thread any, because you guys do some awesome work! I am not a talented carver. Well, I have never carved a decoy yet, so the jury is still out. I can likely promise that my carving would come no where near what you guys do. Someday I will try.

However, a friend of my father's gifted me 33 old Sportplast Bluebill dekes. They haven't seen the water in nearly 15 years. After close inspection, repair on some and cleaning of all. This is where we are at. . .a plain, simple, working block pattern for Bluebills.

A pile of dirty dekes:

I did another 7 drakes and have 9 hens to do. I am having a hard time finding a suitable flat brown Krylon spray bomb.

I did some repaints on a dozen or so Old Squaws last year and hunted over them. I can tell you it was pretty exciting hunting successfully over my own repaints. I can imagine the feeling is even better when you carved them and when you are riding in a boat you built! Ahhh, some day.

This has been on the work bench for a couple months but have had lots of other projects that needed to be completed sooner. It's a wedding present, I was the best man at his wedding and he was at mine. His bride's favorite bird is the pintail so..

It probably wont get finished till July but I'll try and snap a few pics as the paint progresses.

Pat, the hen mallards now have base on heads-just have chest markings, ticking bill color and wash--Will send you pic when done--Need to keel everything, but that will happen after wife's radiation treatments, next week.
God Bless
I buy the paint that way from Golden-White, black, burnt umber--Like to use the empties as little risers when painting, so they are off floor and in path of the fan.

Pat hope that redhead comes to the western side of Missouri!!!!!

birds I have finished up today, cork and oils. practiced some different carving and painting things on all three. hope to make the next three better.

Thanks George. Will be carving some hens in the fall. Teal hens are perfect for taking to deer blind. Set one down last year to shoot a couple deer lol

Brandon, Pat is posting because i am pretty much comp-illiterate--Being left handed and right brained, i find it a pita to deal with logic. I see the end, the steps are an annoyance!
Thanks again, Pat. Bomb them with the hen mallards!!
Keels tomorrow, if we have reasonable weather for pouring lead.
