What's on your Work Bench - NOVEMBER 2017

Worked on a little bigger project over the weekend. I set up near the shore with trees in the back so I decided to try to match it. May add a couple of painted small cedars just to add more depth. All done with spray cans and a can of flat white, just to see if I could get the look I was going for. Next year, I may strip the boat down to bare aluminum and repaint with high quality paints if this does not hold up well.

Dave, the brant won't mind, but the space between the primaries, which are upper coverts, is also black. If you have a body to look at, just lift the primaries and take note. Let us know how they work when you get them out hunting with you.[;)]

Dave~

All those different postures really suggest movement and activity (especially if you click on the photo and flip them rightside up...). Nice job!

Dave~

Your first photo is presented upside down on my laptop - until I click on it.

Are you in the Southern Hemisphere?

All the best,

Hi benp......glad to see you over here. I keep looking in the drift piles when fishing but have yet to find a “root head” that I think I can make into a canvas swan or goose. Maybe I’m to critical?

I know what you mean Brad. I was all in the roots of some fallen red cedar trees trying to find one to use and couldn’t picture any being good. These two I picked up with others thinking it would be a good shorebird decoy mount for two or three birds since it easily stands by itself in a unique way. Then I was looking at them and “lightbulb” they would make perfect heads in the water pose.

So is that 6pk of brant that Dave posted THE 6pk that comes from Homer that says "2active and 4 feeders?"
Also, there's quite a gap on the decoy shown on their site and not on Dave's. Did you just wrench it down a bit more or did you use filler or adhesive?

Finally, scale is hard in the pics, are those about true in size to real brant or do they run large or small? I've seen some oddly small brant decoys out there.....
Thanks,
Mc
