Should I order some of these Mexican Speckled Quail? They are available and I sure like the looks of them. A South of the Border Bobwhite. I wonder if they are spicy tasting? :^)

Great looking sub-species of Bobwhite. Yup, after looking at them again......I need to get some for raising & eating.

If you feed them Jalapeno seeds, they would be good in a Taco salad,I'll bet.Make sure they're here legal though;o)

She wants to raise some of the BIG MONEY birds, like these Satyr Tragopans and other breeds of rare pheasants. These guys are $550 a pair and their eggs are not cheap either.

No doubt about yelling "ROOSTER" when these birds get up! A little spendy for the pheasant clubs......but what a mount they would make.

Had no clue there were so many species of Pheasant, and quail.Beautiful.No doubt in my mind;Birds are a higher life form.FLY FREE.No security checks.

Fly tiers (like me) would use them for trout+salmon flies.
That Mexican Quail would make some nice soft-hackle trout flies.
And that Pheasant with the rusty breast would draw some big bucks from the right salmon-fly guy.
Beautiful birds-

I was gonna mention the fly tying material market for those swanky birds. Might even be worth more than the bird is whole.

Don't do it !!!!!!!!!

the next thing you know they will be taking the jobs of all the native quail and for half the seed !!!
then the pheasants will be out picketing the fencerows because the mexican quail are all hanging out at the woodshed eating seed ,drinking well water and breeding like crazy forcing the chickens to care of their chicks all day!!

Go ahead! bring in the "undocumented" fowl , they are probably just trying to have a better life like the rest of us.............

wait.............your gonna shoot these things right?

In that caseRosannaDanna.jpg. never mind

and here I thought my wood duck "lemon feathers" were cool, but I can see there will be lots of nice fly feathers to be had from this game bird project coming up. I'll be saving some of these bird skins for the guys that tie their own.
