Where are they now, former DHBP participants?

I think Art Stoop, Mallard Masher and Reuben are somewhere carving Smew decoys together...

Brand is trying to finish college and is working full time. I think we will see him again in the future but right now he's got other things on his mind. Along that note Thomas is going to get his own account so he can start posting. He is starting to like to read the site and looking at the pictures. Diver hunting has his interest at the moment.

There really have been some characters come through here over the past 12 years. I look at the site and know full and well if I was trying to start today instead of 12 years ago it wouldn't fly. As SPAV was falling apart and the number of duck hunting sites was small the timing was perfect for opening a duck hunting site with a forum. We picked up a head of steam in a very short period of time. Guys were looking for a place to hang out and we attracted a really colorful group of guys. A lot of those same guys moved on to do their own thing but the early days are best described as electric and I'm really glad to have been a part of it. I think our philosophy of running a commercial free community is better than what the other sites do but recruitment would be really hard these days with saturation and Super Wal Mart sites controlling their membership and slanting everthing to favor of sponsors. We fill a nice niche and attract a great group of guys but without the foundation laid so many years ago I don't know how things would go in today's online market. Needless to say we aren't going anywhere or changing philosophy. Steve and I love running this site and the support we get proves time and time again it serves a lot of people, in many different ways, but we have all come to rely on each other for entertainment, information, support, and friendship. That 's the type of community I want to be a part of.

Last Saturday while hunting Jeff Smith brought up the funniest post he'd ever seen on duckboats.net. It was the spoof you did on today's outdoor writers that got Reubin so pissed off he went ballistic and then got nailed by someone a whole lot more computer savy. That episode will never be forgotten by me. HILARIOUS.

Jeff Dye... Last I heard from him was an invite to his wedding.

Jefferson got married huh? good for him. should you ever run into him, please tell him I said hello.

I still read some when time allows... spend most of my puter time on the duck dog boards. Dog season is the other 290 days a year, and its a lot more productive than our duck seasons these days. don't chase the geese anymore, sept early season we have hunt tests everyweekend, and after duck season we're getting ready for spring test season. we still kill the snows whenever we have 20+ mph south winds out of my pit field... nothing like having 5000 snows 12 foot off the deck fighting the wind for some fun shooting. travis

I be here...for minute or two. A bud of mine mentioned they were "talkin" about me on here so I thought I'd show my ugly mug and say Hello and Happy Holidays to all!

I still keep in a touch with a small few of the early regulars I got know from here but as far as ducks and boats go I have been a traitor and have another Mistress, Falconry. I bit that one hard and now even have a small Breeding Project with a Harris Hawks and some Falcon.

Anyway, it's neat to see this Place still running and plugging along despite the fact that some of us have been busy in other areas of our lives or have left this world as we known it. Mostly, I miss seeing Harker's name on here and all the banter about "shitty black cork."

Take care folks,

Slik

Dude,
No distractions with the ribeyes cooking. It's a very precise procedure. We gotta get together and fish this spring. Beaverkill and Willowemoc in May. Should be about in the middle.

Didnt jenkins wife get on here and cuss me, saying Id caused him to have a relapse or sumthing? Told her relapse indicated he had been cured, wrong word to use.

Who was the guy up north that hated me so much. I used to post about my back hurting from lugging tote sack full of ducks out. Hated me, thought I was the devil. Had several people tell me they met him in person and he'd just rant and rant about me. Always love it when I can inspire that can of passion in someone. ha.

Paul (ca) still sends me some pics sometimes of ducks and fish. Havent talked to tgun in a long long time. Thought about Ian not long ago, when I told someone I had some hand carved snipe decoys I needed to dig up and use on day. With boxing day coming up and all, just seemed right to give a thought his way. I know there was some kinda falling out that made him, and tgun, and some others leave (straw eyes or something), but Ian really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff, and was my first canadian friend.

Ive never carved a decoy, or made a boat. Or really had any intrest in it. But this site made me realize what a great big world duck hunting was, and how different, but the same so many things are. Ive meet dozens of folks from here, hunted with a bunch, drank and ate with more. I was always kinda the odd man out, because I didnt do any of the stuff this site was supposedly about.

I remember the first time I ever heard about a moto. It was on here. It was in cali first, and it made so many people mad, I had to have one. Anything that many people get that passionate about, welp, I gotta see it. ha.

I remember the dude that hunted in the pot and pan lady's backyard... and someone wanted to raise money for him to defend himself from this 'nut'. How funny it was when the real pics where posted, and I talked to this 'nut' and she just wanted to sleep. I cant remember who that was, but I sure remember the pot and pan lady. travis

Hasn't anyone missed me? Can't say that I blame ya since I've defected to the woods goat crowd. At least I get to shoot my gun when I deer hunt unlike duck hunting in AL.

I shot 6 does last season and one buck. Here is his before picture:

Saw you out in the front yard cutting Pompass grass in your work clothes. Would have stopped but we had to get to the ball park. Next time I see you out I'll hit the brakes. You need to do the same.
