which of these boats is better suited?

Oh yeah,

on craigslist put a ad in the wanted section and if you have a skill to barter , computer knowledge, setting up a web site, construction skills , manual labor, etc. put an ad like that in the barter section as well in teh boat section. I traded a 16 ft boat and trailer for gettign my kitchen tiled.

good luck,

baumy

I'd pass on a jon boat - don't care for the low freeboard. A 16' aluminum V bow boat is a far more useful, safe choice.

With "fleet" consisting of a canoe and an aluminum boat you can cover a lot of situations almost anywhere.

As others have said look to craigslist adn local classified ads.

Fall is the time to find deals on the boats people have chased around all summer and don't want to have to store.
Spring will have a lot more boats listed, but you won't find bargain prices as much.

Don't worry about not having a truck or typical tow vehicle for pulling a trailer. Most any car can pull a small aluminum boat on a trailer. I pull both my 16' aluminum deep V and my 16' scull boat with a 4 cylinder Chevy Cavalier with 140,000 miles on it.
