White Cedar

I made a couple of hollow decoys from white cedar a few years ago,and even after weighting them internally with lead to make them self righting could not believe how light they were.

Does anyone know where I can get some clear white cedar for carving?

I cant remember where I got the last batch. I think it was fed ex'ed from canada.

I live in the midwest so its not available locally, at least not to my knowledge.

Thanks
Mike

mike I'll send you a pm.
Brandon, you are stealing prime Winter forage right out of the mouthes of feeding deer! Afterall, the MDNR put all that time and money into their thermal imaging study to identify all major Winter deer-yard complexes throughout the U.P. and N.L.P.! Of course they never did anything to stabilize or expand Winter yard complexes and associated white cedar habitat to actually impact the whitetail herd.

Hey, wait a minute! Maybe, just maybe, that is why the whitetail herd has declined from an average value of 600,000 in the mid-nineties (era of completion of the study) to 350,000 animals now.

Sorry, just needed to vent...!

Yes, Brandon and I are distant "neighbors". He has access to a large block of cedar that he directs to fellow carvers.
