Who believes in fortune cookies?

I've always gotten some fortunes that seemed pertinent to me, enough so to keep interest...but Saturday night, I had one that hit home...freekishly wierd...in a good way though.

Any other believers?

Chuck

My wife always told me to add the words "in bed" after the saying to make it more interesting!!!

Yes, I somewhat believe them...In college I received a fortune cookie after the typical buffet several fraternity brothers and myself would frequent before Friday night parties...

It said, "YOUR THE GREATEST"...It was framed and hung in my room at the house to let everybody know...

There could be some truth to that...I believe that is typical of the any Kentucky born native, you know, Muhammad Ali, Secretariat, Kristan Sacharnoski...Kind of a common theme...

:)

You get real fortunes in your cookies? All of the ones I see now are more like proverbs or something that Ben Franklin might have written, those should always have relevance to ones life.

your's said....

THERE ARE NO DUCKS CAUSE THE MIGRATION HAS NOT OCCURED.....

Close?

Hell...EVERYONE, except the guys that are killing ducks, knows thats true...

Actually I don't think it was all that stormy but here is my fortune cookie story.

As a traveling sales rep for many years I planned my days so that I would drive to my next destination after the current days calls were done. That way I wouldn't have to drive in the morning, just get up and go to my first call of the day.

That particular week (it was winter) I was traveling from Wisconsin to Indiana and then on to Michigan, Grand Rapids if I recall. After my afternoon calls in north central Indiana I hit the road for Grand Rapids. Just after hitting the Michigan state line and about 6 or 7pm it was time to stop for dinner. Going through a non-descript town I pulled into a Chinese Restaurant. Back then and probably still today the best value was a good Chinese buffet. Anyway, I had dinner and afterwards opened my fortune cookie. Inside was, of course, a fortune and for the first time in my memory I saw "lucky numbers". I thought "that's weird, I've never seen that before".

Anyway, I kept the fortune with the lucky numbers. No, I did not run out and purchase a lottery ticket in either Michigan or Indiana - BUT I SHOULD HAVE. On my way back home at the end of the week I happened to see the winning numbers for the lottery. I don't remember which state it was in, I'm thinking it was Indiana but I can't be sure. In any event, the winning numbers matched my fortune cookie numbers - EXACTLY. The prize? $1,000,000.

I kept that fortune for many years and it may still be around here someplace. A reminder of the capriciousness of life I guess.

Everytime I open a fortune cookie now I wonder - what if?

Blake, I have heard that as well...not that it makes the fortune "more true", but that it is good for a laugh.

Kristan, I think your memory is off, didn't it actually say "All those who hail from Kentucky are delusional about their granduer"

Tim, the key is letting the fortune cookie pick you...it is the one that is facing you when the waiter sits it on the table, not necessarly the one closest to you.

Steve, you were close, it said "There are no ducks because the Canadian government reinstated market hunting to supply meat to the Chineese resturants in the US"

Yep, ever since the one that said "Be sure to order more take-out soon!" It's freakin' scary when it strikes close to home like that.

I got one last night from the "Number One" resturaunt in Wayland Mich. It said "Your foot will land in the soils of many lands". I think that means that every pile of dog crap between here and Westlake will probably have my name on it.

Pete, That was probably HAPPY HOUSE in Niles, Mich. You should have listened. The owner got a fortune cookie that said "The government will never collect" and the very next week it burned to the ground.

Nope, He turned it over to his kids and they opened a cell phone shop instead! I still long for their Hongshu Chicken to this day!

Neat story Pete.

I have had several that, although general statements, hit close to home with what was happening in life right then. Actually Saturday night, the fortune read "The artist is not paid for his labor, rather for his vision" The next morning we got a call the next morning from a friend, whom I had given a goose decoy to for the Allegan county 4H. The auction had been taking place the night while we were having Chineese after church, he called to say my decoy brought in $475 :0

I got one from the local chineese restaurant (mattawan MI) last week That said" that which you are seeking will come to you shortly". Low and behold I got two nice drake mallards this weekend. Kinda gives me a chill when I think about it.
I actually saw lots of ducks this weekend. Of course it's all over till first weekend in January.

I can't even understand them. The last one I got was in some other language...I think it said "Yu Wey Too Phat!"

I have to say that the fortune cookie that precluded opening a new buisness led me to buy a coffee shop. So if you ever get one that say's you should seek rawtown. We are located in Cheraw SC. Just type RAWTOWN in your gps and wahla.

I received one last year that said "the best years of your life have not yet been lived" True to a sense because 2009 has been my best year on record.
