Completed loading those 1 oz. #4 2 3/4" Bismuth loads a while back. Great patterns thru a Trulock Imp. Mod right out to 40 yds. Looking forward to trying them out on ducks this fall. Love shooting that little G2.
I absolutely love my .28 gauge. I purchased the Benelli SBEIII in .28 and pair it up with BOSS #3/#5 with factory mod choke. Patterns the same as my .20ga Remington. Lightweight, takes birds even shot geese with it. Unfortunately BOSS is having some difficulty replenishing loads, unless you stocked up or have another outlet it's hard to come by. I can't say enough good things about the .28Anyone here shoot one? My lady is wanting a Christmas list and I’ve been thinking of adding one.
What loads are you shooting? Any drawbacks?
My 12 behaves just fine and this is more of want than need . Flip side I’m having a hard time letting go of my old 12
Thanks
I hope their hype about copper shot is correct. I like the bismuth loads and have what I estimate to be a two year supply. After that, I'd like non-steel ammo that works. I'm in wait and see mode on copper shot, it's less dense than bismuth unless they alloy it with a denser metal. Call me a doubter until I see results....not BS from "Pro Staff".BOSS has come out with copper shot to replace bismuth. The reviews on it are very good, and apparently the performance is bismuth-like. If this is the actual case, then I would have zero concerns shooting the 28.
I have shot teal, mallards, and ringers with it using BOSS bismuth and have had no issues or concerns.
I completely ran out of 12 ga BOSS bismuth on my trip to Canada a week or so ago. I need to order some for next yrs trip, but like you will wait for true results. I have probably 4 years of BOSS bismuth in 20 and 28 combined which I shoot exclusively outside of my annual trip to Canada.I hope their hype about copper shot is correct. For the 12 gauge, the Remington HD or other dense offerings can fill the gap, as they are far superior to bismuth. Unfortunately, the price is nuts which made me try the Boss loads 4 or 5 years ago when they first showed up. Where I will miss Boss bismuth dearly, is for the 16 and 28 where it can't be easily replaced in reasonably priced dense shot loads (if there is such a thing). I'm aware of the following TSS has, it just doesn't blow my skirt up. Not excited to pay for it either.I completely ran out of 12 ga BOSS bismuth on my trip to Canada a week or so ago.
