WHOOO-ra Travis is Baaaaack

I'll probably be around at least till work picks up! slow this month, aint good for santa. first duck split was awesome, best first split since I was a kid. opens back up this sat, i got to work... missing the second opener of this year. First worked out good, cause we didnt kill em on the opener, but was off the next friday and smoke'd em. If the season progresses the way it starts, it'll be like the old days when i have to ask my yankee brothern to send their unused steel shot south! ha. travis

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! dude thats classic.

I am planning on getting a smarty phone soon... my phone is past a peice of crap. And Im gonna get on face book so I can tell all the people from my 10th grade biology class Im at taco bell instead of interacting with people around me. Not much of a goal I know, but Im sure I can pull it off.

I wanna get tanked and go see the muppet movie. Nobody wants to go with me. I can't understand why. travis

Well, I got leftovers but might have to deliver them. One gun in the shop so had to go to my backup.

It was a really weird year all around. The elk rut was 2-3 weeks late, Moose rut the same and the Goldeneye never showed up until the last week of the season - easily 3 weeks later than normal. Never seen this happen before.

Glad your getting out.

I have zero desire to kill an elk (heck I dont want to shoot a deer, but i love eating them). But man Id love to be in a thicket 15 yards from one when they let loose that noise... that'd be one of the ulitmate outdoor expereinces to me. travis

Oh, it is an impressive animal. I've shot 4 elk with a bow with two of them less than 15 yds. One put on such a show that I had to sit down for 10 minutes after I shot him - just to get my knees to stop shaking. Everyone should experience that kind of adrenaline rush at least once, no matter what animal it is.

I had this guy bugling multiple times inside of 100yds, then we got really close and I could actually hear the air going through his windpipe while he bugled. Never saw him that whole time... very thick oakbrush, he finally walked into a clearing and got a severe case of lead poisoning at 150yds...

and YES, elk tastes amazing! I have 150lbs in my freezer and look forward to every meal!

Nice bull! The past two years I have been elk hunting with a long bow and expect a real rush when I finally connect - all the previous elk were taken with a compound. Had a calf at 3 yds this year and passed, had two spikes at 5 yds but we are in a 4x or better area so had to let them pass too. Chasing elk with a bow is one of the most fun things I do all year and I look forward to it more than the opener of waterfowl.

Ive never eaten elk sober... but when I have ate it, it seemed deliicious and fun. real cool animals, if I had money Id have a couple to just walk around in the background of my sitting porch. travis

Travis,
how about a revisit of the Mud Stud story.

We will box up the shot and put it in the truck with the gear. Will be bringing the new dog for a few lessons down by the sewer plant. I am still looking for my first spoonbill.

We are short on birds now that Chris has shot the big mallard crop out of all the untouchable back waters with the mud motor.

Hope the dogs are all good.

Bob

Just back in time to have the annual Travis Bruce Ice Fishing Gala discussion. I'll be waiting for your availability the next 3 months or so.

Nice to hear from you Travis.

Travis back? I thought he quit.

Good to see your name. I'll give you a call again this year as we drive through Memphis on our way to Paragould.

Eric

Neat to see that name on here again. He was the BEST help I ever had in dog training questions a few years back. Neat to see you post up again Travis.

i have been short on birds too, but i know where they are loafing.

scared 75 ducks 150 geese out of there the other day, and they keep going back everyday.
from what i have seen the birds go to their loafing spots right before sunrise and stay ther until sunset then they move around.

been seeing a lot of gadwall too. i wish i had my jeep so i can tow my boat. i am tired of shooting deer, (its alot easier to bum a ride to the tree stand than it is to get someone to tow your boat)
