Why are toyota sales guys so bad???

Tod I am also looking at Tundra's but am not impressed that I can't get 4x4 with nthe small V8 engine.
Dealers around here are pretty good for knowledge. Good Luck, John

If Toyota didn't make such good vehicles, no one would buy them, that is kinda my point.

What you are experiancing is another frustration I've experianced, Toyota controls their packages very closely and you often can't get what you want, especially if it a less expensive. Around here you literally can't get base models on the trucks, they control the stock and only sell high end models. When I was looking for Tacomas I got a hold of the regional package availablilty sheet and that confirmed my thoughts. In more affluent areas they don't offer base models and in the less affluent areas all models are available.

I haven't seen any of the small V-8's here, but I haven't been looking.

I actually give Toyota credit on that front--they still make a 4 cylinder version of the Tacoma with a real 4WD. In the comparable Nissan trucks, if you want 4WD, you need to go to the 6 cylinder engine. Now, time for my rant about the lack of ANY remaining small trucks with decent clearance and 4WD.

I don't need heavy towing capacity. All I need is 9 inches of ground clearance, a 4WD with low range to get me unstuck, head room for someone 6'3", and the ability to tow trailers up to around 1,000 pounds. I'd rather get that in a smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient truck than what the market currently offers.

It's great that my new Nissan "small" pickup can tow 5,000 pounds, but I'll never use that capacity. Meantime, I've dragging that big engine around all the time.

Bring back the small pick-up!

Damn Jeff, it seems like only the Dodge owners are happy.

I guess that explains why there are so many Tacoma 4cyl 4X4's around here. I have one of them and I have enough power
but the MPG is no better than my V6 fourunner. John
