Why we do what we do...

Kudos to Jim Crowley and cameraman extraordinaire Dave Ludington for a nice segment on Hook & Hunt TV. We have been blessed with great friendships through all this. The duck hunting and decoy carving is just the glue that keeps us together. Had a great day on the water with friends Tim Spieght and Jim Williams. Lots of decoys in this rig from carvers from this forum. And, to Chuck J, the swans are superb in a layout rig.

Enjoy and God bless! http://www.hookandhunttv.com/

Really nice video...Like the swans in the back ground of the last few minutes of the film...

Kristan

Thanks for posting the video Pat. I've watched it several times. Great decoys in that rig. Looked like a real fun time. Is that the Kalash layout boat? Dave.

Tom - Did you catch Jim deploying the Modin bluebill? I've shot over your handiwork many times... Nice block! Pat

That was one fine rig you guys were gunning over. Really cool hearing the names of the carvers as you set the decoys and seeing friends from duckboats.net. What kind of double barrel was being used? Nice work all the way around. Seeing that video and the MLB layout reminded me of everyone's friend Mark Rongers. Anyone know what Mark is up to these days?

Thanks for posting that and congrats on the well deserved recognition for your unique craft and willingness to share.

Pat,

I really enjoyed the video. That hunt looked like a hoot. Happy New Year!

Eric - I chatted online with Mark a bit ago. Seems to be doing well, still hunting and flying under the radar...

He sure started a legacy of layout gunners. Pat

Love it Pat.

I got one or two more hunts while I am down in Ohio for the week and then my season is over for the year but I cut out 9 bodies before I headed down. Time to start making dust again.

I liked the video and it shows all the work that goes into those few moments of actual shooting. The carver from Canada mentioned in the video I have talked to before and have seen a full rig of their divers in action. Anyone around would not get any shooting until they were done and were picking up the rig. He son is a very good shooter at distance.

Pat - Great video. I have never tried that type of gunning and can't believe how fast the birds swing in to the deeks.

Tim - Did you recognize the tender boat? Tim and Jim did an outstanding job on the refurbish. Best tender I've been in... Pat
