I know... I know... this is a duck boat/ hunting thread. My mom in law is a huge tennis fan and her Bday is July 2nd. This year, for her bday, she asked to have a wimbeldon day at the house with the family. So I will cook up a brisket and we will have a little get together and just have tennis on all day. I can watch tennis more than I can watch baseball on TV. Usually these first matches are quick and easy, but the last two days have been pretty incredible. Djokavic almost lost last night in the first round and Zverev just had to go to 3 tie breaks to get past his first round. Serena set to play, at 44 years old, very soon. Kind of an exciting wimbeldon this year...... if you are a tennis fan. I am not really, but this one has caught my attention some.

I watch once in a while. Usually the championship matches for both men and women. I enjoy a good rally. The big turn off for me is the grunting crap. Especially the women, some sound like a wounded banshee. Or me blowing a duck call. :D

im watching while at work, so it has to stay on mute. I find it much more entertaining not to hear all that as I am very much in agreeance with you.
 
I don't watch tennis much, but it is a great game to watch if you are into it. It is also a great game if you play because you can do so much of your life. My dad played until he was like 89, maybe even 90(but he was also a very good athlete). I do remember, because I am so old, just how dominant Bjorn Borg was in the 80's. I think he won Wimbledon 4 times. I also went to a tennis match once and saw Jimmy Connors play because my dad wanted me to. He was a great player and very entertaining to watch.
The thing about Wimbledon is the grass courts. Very tough surface to play on. You have to be good.

My days playing tennis and other "agility sports" (hand ball, infield) are long behind me - and 2 replacement knees and vision in a single eye ensure no such activity in my future. More important, I will be celebrating July 2nd with my Mom - who turns 97 on the very same day.

We were Borg fans back in the day. Pretty sure he won Wimbledon 5 years straight from about 75-79. I believe Super Brat McEnroe beat him in the finals the next year. When he played, we were sure Borg was Steve McQueen cool.
 
I watch it every year and as many matches as I can. 1960's & 1970's my fiends and I played tennis damn near everyday. Using wooden rackets, ya remember them? Free public tennis courts in PA were common, even lighted for night play. Frick Park had the only public Clay tennis courts, and man were they something to play on. I read awhile back that they had been redone and updated. There was no off season for outdoor activity and we loved it.

Wimbledon, World Cup Soccer, and soon the Tour de France. While my foot heals and ass time is required (No Walking - AAAHHHH!!) I'll watch the best of the the Best.

Enjoy the matches and hope you heal up soon!!! Im pretty busy at work today and havent been able to get it on my computer. Looks like Sinner smooth sailed today. What I have watched, I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the matches. That dojakiv/wu match was something for the books. Even the Zverev/blockx was a great a match yesterday.
