Took thursday off.....spent the day enjoying the coast. The wind was still up strong out of the NW.....with good sized seas, and spittin' snow......a great day for waterfowling with a camera.

There were plenty of birds around and plenty to photograph.

Here are some of the images from Thursday.....a little dark and not much color because of the overcast skies, but plenty of content and inspiration. I feel a painting or two in my near future.

First pair of the day....backlit common scoters at first (light).....

I was going wth the hen Eider with the curl of the wave behind her till you got to the Great Black Backs....and then followed that up with the Purple Sandpipers with the surf behind them......super stuff.......thanks for seeing something more than just the Ducks that most people would see....

Great photos!! Too bad the lighting did'nt cooperate with you. I just can't get over the conditions those birds live in! In the one Brant flight photo it looks like a Brant near the rear of the flock is losing it's lunch.

Scroll those pics real fast and the waves and ducks look like their alive and flying. Thanks--I tried that and now I have water dripping off my screen. Great images Keith. Knowing you these images have inspired you to make a a carving or two that we will see posted in the next week or so. Glad to see the new camera is getting a workout. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures! There are a couple of nice poses of the Mergansers for some fun decoys, and some great Brant ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Phil.....glad you enjoyed them. Because it was overcast and dark and my main objective that day was to photograph "waterfowling setting bird action" I didn't get too creative with my camera......I shot mostly "sports mode". The ISO varied, but I am sure it ranged from 400 to 1200 ISO depending on the shots.

Keith-

I love the picture eider with the wave curling behind her. Looks like it ought to be a nice wave to ride. And if only I could duck dive like the harlequins do throuh the waves. Alas for me, trying to go through or under waves ends up like the eider getting smashed by the wave. hhahaha

Good looking hawks too....

very nice
