I just got my latest issue of Delta Waterfowl magazine, Winter 2012 issue. I found a picture on page 104 of one of our fellow members here.........Tim Speight. Nice picture of your Ruddy Duck decoy on page 106. It looks like Tim is holding a Ruddy Duck decoy by Pat Gregory in the picture on page 104. Nice article too.......

Thanks Tim

I didn't know Paul was planning an article on Ruddies but it was fun to see that photo pop up as I was reading through my copy.

And yes that is one of Pat's Ruddies that I'm holding.

Hope you guys are having a good season..... It has been slow where I live and hunt.
Always nice to see your chapter's committee members pictures in the magazine! I belong to several Waterfowl organizations but Delta Waterfowl is the only one that seems to take an interest in guys still hunting over traditional handmade gunning decoys!

Tim - Thanks for the kind words on Delta. They are a great organization.

Regarding the ruddy ducks, I appreciate Paul's spirit regarding his quest to get a ruddy. It is admirable that there are those in our sport that feel good about harvesting the less popular ducks. We have harvested several ruddies at our duck club this season. If there is a more challenging target on the wing, I'd like to see it. We also have had some good shoveler shoots this year. I actually both have and use spoonie and ruddy decoys and, enjoy using them. Tim and I will be helping Paul in his quest to get his first ruddy duck. We look forward to it.

Hope things are well with you...

I have yet to see a Ruddy Duck in the fall during season. I see a few in January or February here at home on the river..... They would definitely be a challenge to hit.
I started a cork Ruddy Duck decoy last year and almost have it finished, hope to get it finished soon! Believe it or not it is actually lifesize, made it from a scrap piece of cork.
