Wood duck finished!

Kevin
I think it would be a lot better with eyes, there nothing worse than a Blind decoy HeHeHe, nice paint job mate you are starting to get a dab hand at the paint work.
take care and God Bless
Eddie.
Its all about Building that Bond

I'll probably leave him eyeless. Although Bill's idea of one eye is tempting........................You guys are nuts!!!...................Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

Great looking bird...What I've done in the past was paint a "sleeping" eye with just a white and black that made it look like his eyelid was shut...This was the best picture I could find but I've done it on several birds when I didn't currently have glass eyes. Just an idea...

All good stuff here! A winker, nice!

A painted, closed eye, nice decoy Zach!

Geoff, I remember that decoy, SWEET!!! Very classy without the eye! I am a blending fool! I can't believe that I never knew how to do it before. If I knew that I could get my lines as clean and straight as yours I would have no reason to blend...............................Thanks guys, Kevin

Looks good. I say finish the head and bill paint and then ask the question again. It might answer itself as you go along. dc

a brownsih blue glaze might help the primaries. Don't forget those nice tiger stripes on the upper flank!!
Might help to take a look at what happens to the eye ring when they close their peepers--some shots of sleeping sponsas will do the trick.

The stripes will come later. I have to let this guy dry for a few days first. The primaries are a bit washed out in the pic. Thanks for the tips George. I will give this guy a few washes of raw umber until I'm happy.................................Kevin

looked good kevin,

for me half eyes would be good, very relaxed position. something seems not quite right about blind ducks..Just my thoughts. really like it mate. keep us posted.
