Would you Drive 500 Miles to Buy a Lund????

I have two sisters in Detroit, so a road trip there to pick up a boat is not out of the question. Dundee is a short drive from there and I get to wander around Cabelas, go & bug Lou at the shop and spend a day on LSC on my sisters 32' Carver.

I'm pretty set on a Lund WC 16 or 14 DLX. I like the open floor, storage & live well, & hp rating.
I actually like the Lowe Angler 16 & 14 WTs layouts better than the Lunds, and I can get a Lowe down here but their horse power rating sucks. Cant see how they only rate for 20 & 15 tiller respectively. Maybe by time the 2010 models come out they will be rated higher.

Anyway, after next duck season, I will start seriously looking so that I can be ready to buy in late spring/early summer. You can bet I will be bugging you guys up north to be on the lookout for a deal for me.

Carl,

I got quite a chuckle out of your question and while the boat I bought back in 2001 was not one of your 3, it was part of the same dilema for me... Bottom line is I ended up driving 4,500 miles round trip!!!! From Washington State to Hot Springs Arkansas to buy an Xpress boat, sight UN seen = YIKES that was a frightening decision!! My gut told me I wanted THAT boat and after looking online for almost two years, I was as sure as I could be without actually getting to crawl around on different boats.

I loved that boat and while I did just sell it last spring after 7 GREAT fishing/hunting seasons, I sure would not call it a mistake. Wife and I turned the trip into a "road vacation" for our 25th anniversary and we saw some wonderful parts of the country we hadn't seen before.

By the way, my War Eagle that I just bought in April was about a 800 mile round trip adventure!!!

Good Luck!
