I sold one when i was in high school, [pirate] and now have just this year gotten permission on a property nearby where I can't use a rifle for deer.

Thanks guys. I'm scouring the internet. will be a fun tool in the toolbox for next year!
 
One bit of advice, if you go smooth bore, our enforcement guys use Federal Premium Tru-Ball slugs when they qualify.
They love them, accurate out to 100 yards even with open sites.
 
Slug barrels for an 870 should be reasonable brand new,and easy to get.
Try to get one with a scope rail and use a red dot

I have seen 870 Expresses that would throw slugs very well with the vent rib rem choke barrel. One with a bead site that would hit an empty slug boxes at 50 yards every shot. Some with clamp on rifle sights on the vent rib and one guy who uses a scope mount on the reciever with the 28" barrel. So if you don't find a slug barrel, try your long barrel.
 
Hi Paul.

Have a 21 inch smooth bore barrel with rifled choke tubes (2, one flush mount, one extended Sabot Special) with cantilever mount
Bushnell Banner 1.75x-5x Scope on it
It will take both 2 3/4" & 3" shells
It is painted flat black.
It is very accurate with Remington Sluggers.
