WTF have I been up to???

Todd, I looked them up and there are a bunch of floor plans. Which did you get. It seems to be what I was considering - 3 season equipped if not 4 season, dedicated bed space, ability to lift it so as to clear rough roads, etc. I wish someone here made something similar to the Australian Caravans. If you have never seen them, check this out, http://www.kedroncaravans.com/xc3.html. True off road capability. Love you adventures! Trip.

So thats what a pheasant looks like? Looks like a great time. where you able to walk for chickens with any success?

I typically do quite well with the chickens in the grass, but this year since the pheasant numbers were down and took a bit of work we didn't spend all that much time on walking up chickens and were happy for the break that the pass shooting gave us.

Last year we saw and flushed tons of chickens, but this year we saw many fewer - our pass shooting was extremely productive given the number of birds we were seeing.

The model is a Sunline Solaris T- 1950 classic. We don't have the gray and black water heaters, so I wouldn't say that it is 4 season, belly is fully insulated. Fresh water is inside the coach, which is nice.

Here is the same year and model, but different trailer:

Congrats on the camper purchase!

I was just recently wondering what ever happened with all of that.

Looks like you guys had a great time.

Ironically, my sister lives out in Rapid City, SD and her husband is about as serious an outdoorsman as there is. They always say there's a bed waiting for me. Although it's not quite as far for me, the 1500 miles between where I live in NE Ohio and them is a little bit of a hinderence. We've been out there a few times in the summer. Awesome Trout fishing, and we managed to pop a few Prairie Dogs, but that's about it.

I think you'll have a lot of good memories to come with your set-up.

Thanks for sharing!

Awesome. Looks like a great trip. I get asked every year to go there or No Dak for pheasant and waterfowl and have yet to go. I think I need to put it on the top of the list for next year.

It took us a while to narrow in on what we wanted, but once we did, it went fast. I've been busting my hump since purchase to get it ready, so I've been a busy boy.

Thanks for your thoughts early on.

A lot of quarts of prairie goodness....

Cool, I was wondering how you had done. Kind of odd to see some green in fields out there when it's been drier then a pop corn fart here farther east, normally it's the other way around.
Where the numbers of birds drastically down? What I've heard it is spotty with some places being very good and others almost devoid of birds. I haven't been out hunting since dove season, fishing has been too good with this nice weather.

Is that honey???? Man, that looks good. Trip

Sure does look like honey :). It is prairie grouse and pheasant stock made from the carcasses after I breasted and legged them.

It was wet there this summer, so wet that bird production was down because of the wet from what the biologists said. It was neat in that I've never seen so many flowers (brown and dried up) and odd prairie annuals from the wet summer in the grasslands.

Bird numbers were OK, many more than in CT :). We had to work for our pheasants after the first couple days and as I said to Bill, the grouse numbers seemed down or way down, but we shot a lot. I've hunted in 2008 and 2010, which were super high pheasant years, so I have been spoiled (Scott and I were also hunting over my dogs, so I was sharing the birds that were single flushes on from the grass). All in all, I think the statewide predictions were on track for that area. No matter, it was a great trip.

Wow, another trip of a lifetime ( that you do a bit more frequently....LOL) great pics and write up. I sure enjoyed it.

Neat hunting trip Tod. I have never hunted Prairie chickens, and I'd like to some day. Those grass hills are really stunning and the dogs looked up for the job.
