I've been putting some vintage catalogs in the Resources section. Not sure why but I find old duck hunting articles, memorabilia, pictures and video very satisfying. In that vein I put together a fun (for me) video, a little over 3 minutes long, of vintage hunting clothing. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks. I just checked and they took the music off the video. I used my own music instead of theirs since they limit the length of the music. Sometimes they don't care. This time they did. Rats.

I think we should go back to that. Every once in a while, and after the hunting season is over, I'll do a preserve shoot with a friend who is a very well known and accomplished breeder and trainer of Brittany Spaniels in south Jersey. One year I wore a tweed sportcoat and was the hit of the group, at least for a preserve bird shoot:)
 
Thanks for sharing that video. Perhaps because we tend to look back as we age, I'm not sure. But I find myself reminiscing more and more about many good times I've had with friends and family. Your video makes me think of many of the good times I've had.

For historical and nostalgic reasons this is very good. Those hunting garment brands were sold in every small and large hunting & fishing store, most hardware stores, and Army & Navy Surplus stores. Ya had to save yer $$ to buy them, then try to keep them for as long as they were wearable and mostly in tatters. Don't get me started about the Shell Holders that lost more shells than they held. It was very common to find unspent shells, paper or plastic on the ground, especially close to parking areas and trailheads. Pockets that held the shells had to be patched often cuz lead shells are heavy and the action was usually very good. So ya carried "enough ammo" to get ya thru the time afield.

For those of us that used this clothing it kept us neither dry or warm. All it did was prolong the inevitable for a very short time. If one hunted everyday the first thing ya did when ya got home was dry your clothing as best ya could for the next day. When I see the expensive Retro hunting clothing ads in the magazines that I read I shake my head. Todays modern hunting & fishing gear and clothing is superior in every way. Style seldom matters, function does. I shudder when I see those garments now cuz I sure did shudder when I used em years ago. The "Good Old Days" were not that good in that regard. We were just a lot younger and had a appetite for suffering. Cuz if ya did not then ya didn't hunt. Ya those memories stick with ya Thank God.
