Early season success! My wife Heather and I both scored the first day of turkey hunting in Minnesota. Tough conditions; 30 mph winds but the toms were not henned up. Off to South Dakota in a couple of weeks.

I have one weekend left. This season I had a gobbler talk to me but not interested in playing. Three of my weekends were spent with family obligations/vacation.....true love I tell ya....giving up most of my turkey season for the family. Ah well..........I guess there is always the hope of next year and this last weekend.

Dani, I seem to remember that you are from Florida. A goal of Heather and myself is to hunt Osceola turkey in Florida. Any suggestions? Richard

Md. turkey season starts tomorrow. First year I haven,t gone out weeks in advance figuring out where birds were. Maybe I,ll get lucky and find a love struck Tom....or maybe not!

Well I got up at 4am with everything laid out to go. Fed & aired the dog and thought you know maybe Monday would be a better day, especially being as i,m going to be hunting on public ground. Less people monday maybe.
I stayed home because it was storming at 4AM and 5AM and 7AM. Old man move or not, it is indeed "Good to be able to pick your days."Old man move.
I used to know a guide in central FL that I like a lot. He has since moved to Oklahoma so I don't have anyone I could recommend.
If you are interested in a do it yourself, I can give you the name of a WMA and tips on where to go if you got on that WMA. However, that WMA on "the map" of where Osceolas are vs Easterns is just on this side of the Eastern line. I have shot birds that I would say are definitely Osceolas. I have also shot birds there that are definitely Easterns. So, if it is important to you to be deep in Osceola territory, then I can't really help you.
I do have purty flowers from this year....and I'll be chasing them hard this weekend. Maybe I will get lucky!!!
