July 2025 What's on your workbench?

I picked up some Restle blacks and 6 mag geese. Going to recoat the ducks but the geese are in great shape, not sure how much of the geese are original condition or not.

All the duck heads seem to be original condition so I think I’ll leave those as is. They also all had these popsicle sticks on the keel, not sure what the purpose was.

I would guess the sticks are to wrap the line around for storage.

Bout to do my yearly preseason spring replacement on the ole 390.

Sadly I think this will be her last tour of duty. Getting increasingly harder to source few certain parts.

She has had a good run 250k plus shots. Bought her the year Beretta put them in Walmarts.

Also doing my preseason call cleaning and tune up's

Shot my Wally World 390 from 2002 to 2019 with absolutely no issues. Still has all the the original parts. I wonder what kinda shape the recoil spring is in, especially after sitting idle since January 2019???

I still have the original recoil spring setup for mine. I changed to a sure cycle setup years ago.

I swap them out. Sure cycle for hunting, OEM recoil spring and recoil spring tube for spring/summer clay shooting.

If I can find new OEM parts to stash away. She will continue to be my primary gun. If not the ultima or a400 upland will be my primary gun.

ITs the gas piston parts that are starting to be a issue to source. Used parts are easy to find, but new OEM parts are getting scarce. And I won't put used parts in my guns.

I would be willing to bet your recoil spring is still in good shape. Beretta used good steel on those springs.

Not sure it would fit on my work bench. But my hunting vehicle just went down in a big way.

Motor mount bolts sheared off, engine dropped, shattered the distributor, broke the transmission mounts as well.

And apparently I have a bad oil leak as well 😂 😂 😂

Got the engine jacked back up and two of the sheared bolts out so far.

Poor ole 95 cj has given me a good run. First new vehicle I ever bought. Might be time to drop some of that over time money in it and turn it into a mall crawler 😂 😂 😂.

Well didn't fall out, just the passenger side mounts broke off. So it was leaning severely to the passenger side.

Yea I was in the yard moving things around, boats, work trailers, getting my deer lease trailer ready to go do some food plots and blinds.

Got a pretty big hole right on the edge of the road, makes the ole jeep bounce pretty good. When it came back down I hear the loudest racket and the jeep killed.

Pulled it back around with the Duramax and that's what I found. Once I started crawling around under neath it, is when I noticed the transmission mounts bolts were sheared off as well

It's a very well known problem with the 90's CJ and YJ model jeeps. Surprised mine have lasted this long, with all the ruff live it has lived.

I have never had to do this repair to my jeep, but have done it to others. Bit of a pain but not overly hard. Hardest part is getting the broke of bolts out the side of the engine.

Ahhhhhhh that sounds like fun....NOT

I feel ya on the broke off bolts....I was changing the alternator out of my FJ and ended up stripping a bolt because it was so stuck in there. Even my neighbors couldn't get it loose. Sadly, I had to put everything back together and take it to the shop. Luckily it was quick and easy and the guys were willing to use the parts I supplied.....but dammit a bolt shouldn't cost $150!

Not been so bad so far. Just got the last of the three broke off motor mount bolts it the block. Will pick up some new mounts tomorrow and then work on the transmission mounts and distributor.

Drilled a pilot hole and the easy out, pulled them no problem.

Been a good day. Think it's time for a shower, could glass of home made bourbon and a deer steak.

I'm always busy but sometimes late to post so here's a picture dump of some Louisiana inspired decoys I made recently
