I was displaying my sneakbox at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. I was talking with a gentleman Art who mentioned he had a Simmenson sneakbox and he used to sell at Tuckerton.

Not sure if anyone might know who he was. He was very helpful with sneakbox knowledge and experience hunting out of a sneakbox,

Rich, i don’t know Art but Bill Simonsen was a great sneakbox builder he worked off the VanSant style his sneakboxs were all well built he built planning hulls and sailing hull all 12ft and 5ft wide. He shop was in egg harbor township Bill Passed in 2019 at 91 years old he was a wealth of knowledge and is still missed at the decoy show in tuckerton every year. I stopped at his shop time to time snd pick his brain on sailing sneakbox. I still miss him.

Bob,

I had 2 gentlemen mention owning Simonsen sneakboxes. Popular boats

Yes I owned one of his sailing sneakbox very beautiful boats that were great sailors deep cockpit and wide. Heres a photo of Bill sailing one of his sneakboxs. We used to have a sneakbox sailing race in lower bank at Grove Conrads place on the mullica river. In the last picture you can see the Bills sneakbox in front and just how wide his boats were.
