TEN inches of wet white stuff

Blessed with the task of cleaning my driveway today. I'm about a third done and taking a break. It is wet and heavy, needs cleared soon before the temps drop to single digits on Monday.
Dave~

Best of luck! Just bought a new snow shovel today, but....I'll be bringing my snowblower into the shop - to stay warm and next to the AC outlet for its starter all winter. And, my Massey-Ferguson is full of diesel - but should get a tarp over it. (Tractor Shed is on The List....) I almost always need the tractor for the "snow plow berm" . Some years it needs chains, others not. We're expecting just 5 inches Tuesday -but with regular snows and cold temps following. I hope to find an unsuspecting Mallard or Black Tuesday morning.

Stay warm!

Not sure of the total here but yard stick showed just shy of 17" on the deck rail. Shoveled the decks 3 times today. Snow is just stopping now. With a rock drive I'll be packing the snow tomorrow with the truck!

Cheater!
I got my drive all cleared with a 6hp walk behind blower. I measured 13 inches on a picnic table but think that was after the snow had settled a bit. At any rate, once the blower had dopped the snow, you weren't moving it again. I could only take about a six inch bite at the end of the drive where it meets the street. Even then the wheels would spin and I'd have to physically help the blower along. The rest of the drive went better but still about 3 times the normal time and effort to clean. A normal 3-4 inch snow is no big deal. This one was wet and heavy as well as deep.
I had help some times in previous years. The neighbor then, had a tractor mounted blower and would open up the end of the drive for me. He has since moved away.

Right now, thanks to the snow plow, I have 3 foot high pile at the end of the drive to move! And there's shooting from the river happening. ..Ugh!

When we cannot open the doors on our vehicles cuz the snow is deep then we Call The Plow Guy. Anything less than that is a "dusting" here in western NY. I've not touched a snow shovel or a lawn mower since the mid 1990's. My "snow brush" is a long handle broom. Much easier to push the snow off the Vehicles. My old Honda Pilot and my wife's CRV get in and out following the short path the Pilot creates in the driveway. The amount of Snow Removal contraptions that folks use here are truly amazing. I consider it a Spectator Sport that always brings a smile to my face cuz most folks really enjoy doing it. One lady down the street still shovels her walk and she is in her 90's.

The village that we live in has first rate snow removal. Unlike in western PA where I lived for many years. When I first moved here 15 years ago the snow amounts really got my attention. My wife taught me that it's not a problem, and just deal with it. Once it's on the ground the amount of light makes winter more bearable and is wonderful for painting. Folks will be breaking out the snow roof rakes soon. Life Is Good. Well I gotta bundle up and grab the long handle broom...
