Late Season Upland Montana advice needed

My son and I are planning on heading up to Montana to duck hunt a few days after Christmas with a buddy and are planning on leaving next week and upland hunting with our GSP until we meet him. Does anyone have any experience or advice on where to go in Montana. I'm thinking eastern part of state but idk.

What, if any, snowfall accumulation? Here in MN our upland hunting was cut short by alot of snow. Alot of it melted this week but what is left is hard crusted snow pack. Good luck on your trip and let me know of your experience. My wife and I have been planning a similar trip to Montana, just not this year.

Don’t hunt upland but years ago we were there and randomly we were walking back to the boat my little girl got real birdy. I loaded a shotgun real quick, as I was told pheasants were around. Got stupid lucky and stumbled up on this one randomly. Made for a good pic. Sorry I’m no help on location or know how lol.
