I have owned a 14 TDB since 1993. I have on occasion broken ice but don't like to and wouldn't recommend it. No damage to the hull but.......
I usually wait for the aluminum boats to break ice first.

I would second the Avery Power Hunter. It is lightweight with carry straps to fold into itself. You can carry it like a backpack. It is easy to see through the mesh hood in all directions if you are limber enough to turn your head. I dont know about a 52 inch chest and size 16 boots, it might be...

Anchor that boat in open water properly on an angle over a diver rig and you will shoot a lot of divers. I owned one since 1988. Very stable and seaworthy on small bodies of water.
