Props to Steely Dan for calling out Lennon and his hypocritical "Imagine." I like to imagine the Beatles with Jeff Lynne instead.
This has been making the FB rounds. One of the very few songs I absolutely loved in high school that's still among my favorites. (Let's just say that some others have not aged so well. Looking at you Michael Jackson and J Geils Band.

Name a debut album that exceeds Third Eye Blind's. Not going to be easy. In fact name a debut album whose last three songs hit like theirs did. Not sure you can.

Will give this a listen tomorrow, but have a hard time believing anything can come remotely close to Led Zeppelin 1 on both counts.

Okay, let's confine it to its era. I never said best. Besides, best is highly subjective but its critical acclaim and record sales (6x platinum) certainly puts it in the conversation with others like STP Core and PJ Ten.
Well, I don't know how many folks put a debut album out in 1996-1997 that can compete, but IMO, Tool:Aenima, RATM:Evil Empire, and Korn:Life is Peachy all hold their own against 3EB. I doubt all 3 combined saw 6X Platinum, but I think that has a lot more to do with main-stream radio picking winners and losers. I can only recall hearing a Korn song on the radio 1 time before their Follow the Leader album came out in 1998, and that was Blind off thier 1994 debut album.
