Simple question I realize may have been answered in another discussion, but will the expanding foam we buy for insulation around doors and such, if used to add floatation to a boat, soak up water over time and add weight to my boat? Don't need a lot of flotation, but the places I do want to...

Those GWT can be some of the last ducks around St Louis Bay before freeze-up. Which, btw, has occurred - I believe winter is here in the western end of the Great Lakes.

BrentS, made mine from a '68 Glastron JetFlite - a 14' rated for 60hp. Heavy, and it takes a 35hp to get it up and going, but it is a dream to hunt from - solid and steady in the water and very seaworthy.

Beretta 390 has my vote. Shoot the same 15 year old Sporting model for everything - everything - and it keeps on working. SC, trap, ducks, geese, grouse, skeet, red squirrels...

Late season on St Louis Bay in Duluth, MN brings quite a few blacks down - and, big flocks of green-winged teal - just as things are freezing up.

Give the Track Coach at your local college or high school a call and see if they have any old or broken pole vault poles you can have - fibreglass = great strength, and quite lightweight too. Fit a duckfoot into the end and off you go!

SV-18 has a more forgiving v-hull then the flat-at-the-transom S-18. SV-18 carries the v into the transom, and is a considerably more comfortable ride in any kind of wind than the S18. Great boats - displacement hulls, but solid and seaworthy with even a 40hp - throw a 50hp four stroke on...

The pail trap works like the dickens! ONly trouble in warm weather they start to decompose, and that stinks big time. If you're serious set several can traps out and empty them with regularity. Damned effective they are!

Wore out an 1100, then into Winchester Super X Model 1 and Beretta Sporting 390 - both with 30'" 'barrels and both choked Light Mod 99% of the time.

Is Duluth, MN a reasonable driving distance? OK, just trying to lighten the mood on an otherwise tedious Friday afternoon. Nice rig, Brother - someone will be happy when it hits the water!
