I use them but a few seasons in they are starting to brake. But they keep they keep the lines nice.next time I tie mine I will do a type of loop knot so it doesn't squeeze the rubber so tight. Or if you use crimps that probably be even better.

the boat is bare aluminum im trying to get the dirt and grime that is built up on it from sitting outside for 30- 40 years so i can prime and paint it.

i read that to on duck unlimited about the fumes but i think they are refering to the inside of the box i wouldnt see any harm with painting the outside as long as you give it a day or 2. unless your some sort of wood duck slum lord and you got them lined up waiting for a shanty hahaha.
