Okay guys need some help with the Armstrong molds

I have one of the older Armstrong North Carolina factory built Broadbills from back in the early eighties. Its a great boat. I think some pics might be in the old site archives. I might still have a brochure as well.

of course, both Making Game (on woodcock) and For A Handfull of Feathers (on quail) are wonderfully written books both entertaining and informative.

    bbsb motor size

I have an 80's vintage factory made glass Arthur Armstrong Broadbill, I run an older 1981 Evenrude 25 hp 2 stroke and it flies. A 15 would probably be fine. The boat came to me with a Mercury 9.8 2 stoke and wouldnt plane with 2 guys a dog and decoys

Does anyone have a good American Lab breeder

I am hoping for close, I am in MD. To me VA or DE are close enough but a half days drive is OK. I just lost my 12 year old Chocolate and my 14 year old Black has cancer and the writing is on the wall there. I am guessing I will want a pup for this spring once the empty house is too much...

    Repairing Plastic Decoys

I've mostly gotten rid of my plastic dekes. I found it hard to keep paint on them and some get really brittle. I do have 3 or 4 plastic geese floaters where the keels have broken off, I was palnning to just use them in the fields but if there is a strong plastic epoxy to weld back the keels...

I plan to hunt Fishing Bay Saturday then make it to the gun show.

    shelf life on shells?

Those are essentially new sheels and should be fine. The bigger issue is how much steel shot technology has improved in 10 years. Current production has better wads and faster speeds. For what you have it will be fine. I would shoot it if it were mine. I have target ammo that is 30 + years old...

    Ammo

Most of my duck guns are vintage doubles so its Bismuth for me either factory or handloads. I do use cheap steel in my Japanese Browning A5

I can't find the thread about VHF radios......

Mine is an I-Com M1, I have had it for probably close to 10 years. It still works fine, is no problem wet, they claim it is submersible, I havent tried. I-Com makes a good radio, I am glad I havent NEEDED mine for more than a marine weather forcast but it is cheap insurance.

    1970 Remington 1100

You can put a steel shot barrel on the gun for under $200.00 and it will shoot 3" steel but is not approved for 3" lead. The gun is just as good or better than a new semi auto. Just buy the new barrel and if you want to buy a set of plastic stocks to go with it if you want to keep the wood nice.

duckboats.net is coming to life - Roll Call Time

Good thread, I have been off the site for a few year, but... If you dig on the old archives you can find my boat (Arthur Armstrong factory built Broadbill)and now really old dog (Spike). I am a self or book taught duck hunter, no hunters in my family since we left the caves as far as I know. I...

    what gun do you use

The one without the lever isnt a Remington model 11. Its a Winchester model 11, also know as "the widowmaker" for somewhat obvious reasons if you ever tried to cock one and realized you were looking down the barrel of a loaded gun.

    what gun do you use

The model 11 is a neat gun. I have an early production 20 gauge that is fun to play with. The 20 is not a duck gun but a 12 is true old school.
  18. L

    what gun do you use

It depends on my mood and expected weather conditions. The choices are, a 12 gauge 3" Japanese Browning A5 with an invector barrel and crappy steel shot, a 12 gauge 3" 30" Browning BSS and bismuth shot, a Ithaca NID 10 gauge magnum double and bismuth hand loads, a 12 gauge 3 1/2" Browning Citori...
