    Pocket Knife

For small game and waterfowl I carry a Buck 503 folder. For big game I own two buck alpha hunter w/ gut hook. Bought the first one in 2004 w/ a walnut handle and it has been a fantastic knife. The second one that I carry now is the Cabelas Alaskan Guide model of the same knife. It was a...

    Trailer hitch cargo carriers?

I have used a Hitch/Haul from Cabela's for many years. I have carried as many as 3 deer home from deer camp on it at one time. I do have some issues with it. I don't like that it is two pieces bolted together instead of a solid frame. Also eventually the welds where the mesh are attached to...

Hunt photos and a cool gift!

Bill, the Deutsch Drahthaar is basically a controlled breeding of the wirehaired pointer. They are genetically identical, Drahthaar bloodlines are very specific about breeding controls. Dogs are not permitted to be bred until they've passed some very rigorous testing. They are trained to hunt...

Hunt photos and a cool gift!

On Thanksgiving day I duck hunted with my brothers and one of my brothers colleagues from work. A nice guy who I've goose hunted with on several occasions. He was surprised to hear that I carved my own decoys. It was a wonderful morning to duck hunt! Cold, probably in the mid 20's and...

    cold tail question...

My lab had it twice. Scared the crap out of me the first time. First thing I noticed was that she wouldn't sit, I was afraid it was her hips or an injury of some kind. Then I noticed that she couldn't get her tail out of the way. She kept awkwardly laying down by flopping over to the side...

    Hello to you all.

Do you mind if I quote this when it occurs on some other sites I frequent. It only takes one or two morons to ruin a great forum with their idiocy. Great introduction and welcome aboard! ........................................

    October workbench thread

I rushed these teal into service last season because my small spread lacked variety. At the time I didn't have any eyes for them so I just did without. Well, this season rolled around and I still hadn't added the eyes so I finally got them done last week, touched up the drakes and repainted...

    First duck of the season!

I've never eaten one, and don't plan to. No Mergansers were harmed, but if I saw a hooded one it would be at the taxidermy right now.

    First duck of the season!

It was a great opening day in PA south zone. My brother and I hunted the same water, although we did split up so we could both work our on dogs. Unfortunately I didn't see much yesterday morning in the way of ducks. The morning started off bad when I started setting decoys. I got about 10...

A new all time record - can anyone beat this?

I typically have more problems with fishermen, especially early in the year. Duck decoys must have some weird fish attracting property I don't know about. Those guys will troll right up into the decoys and cast away. Always right at prime time too!

    October workbench thread

I'd have to hunt pretty far south to get into the dos gris range but ok. Probably should add a black head while I'm at it. I do have two more bodies already ban sawed.

Accidentally posted this in the September thread... guess who's not quite with it today. Three Sleepers for my soon to be diver spread. One Bluebill, one Broadbill, and one Scaup ;) Good use for cork cutoffs! Pine bottom board and pine tail board.
