Small lightweight to run only GPS

I have a marine nav app for my cell phone, like a mini chart plotter, works good, I use it to find the end of a pot string when its foggy. Something like that may work for you

    Spray Shield Support?

I kept mine simple too, an appropriate size broom handle sharpened to a dull point on both ends, top engages the spray shield grommet, and the bottom fits in a drilled hole in the top deck. tension keeps it in place until YOU want to lower it.

    very small gas tank....

Every drop of gas that goes through my 40 honda is treated with the blue stabil for ethanol gas, that and a Racor water separator/fuel filter. Haven't had any problems with ethanol doing that. It's cheap insurance as I can not afford any downtime once I start working. Try using your fuel up...

    very small gas tank....

Several times I had problems with bad fuel while out working and couldn't get back in. I just removed the tank end of the gas line and stuck it into the top of the open tank to suck the clean gas on top. I did have to drain the gas filter first but I got in without a tow. Dave the safety officer...

    Gas can safety

Is the compartment sealed? I never worried about fumes with a tank under a deck if it was open to the cockpit, and you would need an ignition source close by which you don't really have with an outboard. If its sealed, then you may have fumes collect, but still no ignition source. I believe the...

    Open water hunting

Both myself and a friend have gone over the side while alone, though in milder weather. You are NOT going to get in by yourself in water up to your chest or deeper without help. I don't care how fit you are. A step is ok for shallow water. The only way we got back in was to get on the lower unit...

    Homemade paint jobs for boat/motor

No need to get fancy, spray it with a dead grass color for the background and then take a dark brown or black, and spray a couple "stripes " , Like a Tiger but not too close together, you want to just break up the outline of the motor. Or just leave it grass colored, Burlap works good too.

    40 hp Outboards

I fish commercially year round, I've had them all. The last 15 years its been Hondas, 40 hp, Most of the guys here have switched to them, or the higher HP models. You can get them with a tiller, they are the lightest 4 strokes in weight, and we have almost zero problems with them. They are a...

Confidence decoys...who uses them and what do you prefer for field and water sets

Been there, done that. Frankly, I don't think it makes much, or any difference. Put the stool where the ducks want to be and your good.

    Boat Battery Problems

Make sure all your connections are clean and bright, check that your battery cells are full, top off with distilled water if necessary. Then start checking everything else.

    Sneak box rig

Depends what you have most of. Traditionally "here" on the salt meadows, you'd set 7 or 11 black ducks, a few geese, or maybe brant, and maybe a couple of whatever you got most of. I never found large rigs necessary to shoot anything that was looking for company. YMMV

    REd plastic gas tank

My question is what LEO would go that far out of the way to write a ticket on an off color gas tank? Takes being a d!#* to a whole new level....

    Long line question

Everybody has a different theory, My lines are about like yours with 12 decoys per line. 4 lines side by side makes setting and picking up easy, as you can do 2 lines at a time, with 3 guys, other times I'll take one line and use it to form a tail to the rig. The lanes between lines don't...

    New England--Fall Apocalypse

We got thumped on Long Island, high wind ,lot of branches down, leaves still on so thats why. Tide was 3' above normal, but kept the electric. If your stuff was frozen you'll be good to the weekend, at least, if a chest freezer, just keep it closed. Went 2 weeks without electric on one...

Mittens - HT Polar Liner, Black Eskimo, Jokatherm - supply other than L (9) and XL (10)?

Do a search for Nokia gloves/mittens, they may be called" Eskimo" now. I've never seen them in kid sizes, but these are the black gloves with a grit type surface. They come with fleece liners but I use the Military wool inserts. Last time I checked there was a work wear supplier that sold them...

    NY ammo sales

Yeah, no one wants to ship to NY, makes it tough to get specialty ammo in small quantities, even dealers don't want to bother ordering a few boxes of whatever. So anyone know what the restrictions are concerning a family member in another state shipping ammo legally to me?

    Trailer Wheel

I'm amazed that tire lasted that long, we use a cart at the boats that uses those same tires, I buy two at a time to always have a spare, can't seem to get more then 4 months out of them.

    Old School Long-Line molding

Or you could just clip another sash weight to the first.[cool] But then you miss out playing with stuff. Frankly, if one large sash weight doesn't hold, those small mushrooms probably won't either. I've gone to those galv. rowboat mushroom anchors, they weigh 10#. When that won't hold it's time...

    Honda vs Yamaha

I would have mentioned Suzuki, they are a good motor, but for routine maintenance you need to take the shrouds apart to get to the filter, and at least the older ones were definitely heavier then Honda, which I believe is the lightest. I'm talking 40 hp and above, not sure on the little ones.
