    People will surprise you sometimes.

Pete, thanks for the offer, I am probably going to take you up on it. My first thought is going out there and see if I can see down enough to spot anything. Water is suppose to be fairly clear and the fisherman said it was only 8 feet of water. No idea how good the cooridinates are. Dave...

    People will surprise you sometimes.

As some of you will remember, last fall during hunting season, I had a boat accident and lost my gun, coat and shell bag. Well, I got the gun back. A fisherman hooked the gun case, while trolling for walleyes two weekends ago and brought it home and cleaned it up, not knowing what to...

I'm usually up for trying different foods but.......

But if you wanted to Pete, head over to Mud Lake by Lake Mills and you can catch all you want. Used to fish there as a kid and always caught several of them, nasty looking fish.

    Midwest Boat Builders Gathering

In addition to rhubarb, this year I will hopefully be bringing a gooseberry pie. Never heard of this type of berry before, but was ordering some plants from Gurney's and thought this one sounded interesting. I also hope to be camping over the weekend and bringing Juggernaut.

Ridgid 6" random Orbital not up to the task!

I bought a 6" Festool a couple of years ago, very happy with it. Great dust collection setup, lots of power in the rotary mode, yet switch it to the orbital mode and I sand maple and no scratch marks. Only thing is, they are not cheap, but worth every penny.

    Old Squaw pair

Very impressive. Whenever I start to carve something that is about what I picture in my head, but it never turns out anything close. Thanks for the photos.

NDR - Alone in the Wilderness

Seen it a couple of times now, would love to read the book. Always reminds me of that book about a kid outside of New York that "ran" away from home and lived in the Catskills mountins / wilderness on his grandparents property or something like that. As a kid that was a great read.

    Need some computer help

I got up and walked away for about a minute and came back to my daugther (15 months) pounding away on the keyboard. Now the font on any website is about half the size it was. Looked like she was just playing with the number keys, but I have no idea what she did or more importantly, how to...

    Evolution of my carving vise

Thanks for the offer Charlie, LOL I am not as nice as Dave, I showed mine to a friend who owns a machine shop to see how much to make them and if anything could be improved. So far I have requests for two and we will see, might just start selling them on ebay.

    Evolution of my carving vise

Nice job Dave, sorry for stealing your thunder. My proto type was similar to yours with three bolts, as I thought I could only get 4" wide aluminum. When I got to the distributor, they found some 6" wide stock. I thought about a slot on the bottom, but how I have it set up, the decoy would...

    Evolution of my carving vise

With the recent addition of some great carvers to site, I thought I would post up my new homemade carving vise. I started carving about three years ago, when I got started I thought I had enough woodworking tools to make decoys. One of the first things I realized was, I didn't have a good...

    What brand bandsaw blade?

Brand and how much I pay for the blade depends on what I am doing/making. Timberwolf are great blades, they cut well and seem to track straighter, however, they don't seem to be worth the extra price, if all you are cutting is decoy blanks. Now if I am resawing to make veneer or something...

    2 man scull boat plans

I built the Merrymeeting Bay sculler a couple of years ago, in fact that is my boat on their website. She is strip built, you need a table saw and router and a bead and cove set of bits, fairly easy build and if you follow the plans it fairly light. I beefed my up substanially and added a...

    My "after 9" collection

Yeh, the red is a little too glossy, figure that will have to wear down. Fleet Farm (farm and barn type stoe) only had red in gloss, I darkened it with flat black, but it did nothing to lessen the gloss. I will be hunting over them for awhile, if Michael makes the a few more goldeneyes they...

    My "after 9" collection

First off, let me say it takes a lot of guts to post pictures of your work out on the net, especially when they don't come anywhere close to the other pics you see out here. However, I made them and to a degree, I am proud of my work. I made these to go with my son's goldeneye I posted a...
