Check with the company that insures your cars and/or house. They can often add a "rider" (I think thats what its called) cheaper than a new policy can be written by someone else.

I am not a definite. But I will be in Erie, goose hunting and will have the family with me. It all depends on what time we wrap up.

I never use my winch during launch. I unhook from the boweye, have a buddy hold the bowline and back her down and spike the brakes. I sewed a new eye in the nylon strap tonight after cutting ten feet off of it.

I have a strap but it is very long and the winch won't fit it and doesn't come apart to allow installation of a strap. I may look at the new winch route. New rope will do in the mean time if it has to. I rarely unwind more than two or three feet off it.

The nylon rope on the hand winch on my boat trailer needs to be replaced. I have a nylon strap from a tie down kit but it wont fit. Is there any reason not to use steel cable?

The plain GPSMAP 76 has a serial port not a USB. It will require a serial/usb converter (not included). Any of the versions later than the 76 have usb ports.

I checked with Garmin. As long as it has a USB the topo maps and waypoints will transfer. Thanks for the heads up.

Does it accept topographic map software? I just lost mine two weeks ago.

It really depends. I have some spots that later in the season they come back mid morning and others where they come back to water well after dark. Odds are their patter changes soon after the season starts.
