I have been experimenting with the decoys I make and adding white. Just wanted to try something a bit different from other parts of the country. If I can get the flash I want from a few decoys I think it would help attract birds from a distance. I don't want it to show all of the time like on...

Me too! My decoys are normally wide with a hard chine. My plan is to paint up a few hens dark and the bottoms of them stark white. I want to try to get some real flash that you see when ducks are diving.

Nobody? Looks like I might have to experiment with round bottom, narrow decoys.

Would like to find out what design of decoys roll and skate the most. Pics would be nice. A pattern would be great. Thanks!

Thanks for posting! Decoys look good. Looks like I will buy some lumber from the local lumber store and start carving some decoys out of it.

I have visited his website many, many times but was looking for some pics of his work that I haven't seen. It would be a real treat as he does great work.

Decoart Traditions Blue-Grey looks really good. Also paint the back how you see fit.

I would use Golden Heavy Body Matte Acrylics and I would paint as detailed as possible. It all depends on what you want to use and how you want to paint them.

I resurected this thread to ask Tim about the decoys pictured. He hasn't logged in since Feb 18, 2012. I hope all is good with him.

Approx. 30 right now. Hopefully will have 50 more carved before season. At least that's what I am shooting for.

Most of the ones I have seen here are a darker color and that's how I paint mine. The darker decoys stand out more here as well.
