20" or 15" transom on Duck Boss 13?

The only downside really, is with the 15" transom, on the Yamaha 25, the tilt lever is buried under there with the motor up. It's hard to describe but when the motor is locked all the way up, it's very difficult to access. My only gripe really. I am not sure where Mercury puts theirs.

20" or 15" transom on Duck Boss 13?

So from what I've heard, the 20" transom only makes sense if you already have a long shaft motor already. Otherwise, the motor sits a bit higher, sticks out more, and just is not needed. I saw pictures of one with a long shaft/20" transom and the top of the motor cowling was almost to the top of...

Which gas stabilizer do yall use

Even using Stabil 360 Marine (blue), you do need to still rotate your gas out. My duck boat goes into commission around October of each year. In February, I'll usually siphon what's left in the tank into one of my vehicles. Then I'll go grab a quick gallon of premium, add in some blue Stabil...

    duck invader / boss 13

That's the older design. Less room for the guy in the bow. Still a great boat. Those, the TDB, and of course the Roy's started the grass flapper boat trend. The problem with the newer boats and longer flappers is the grass drags in the water while running. This is problematic when it's cold and...

    IN Reach or PLB

Overall, I think it would work. The main concerns would be your cell phone running out of battery, losing the phone, or having the phone get wet and/or break. I've used the built in satellite texting before and it does work. It's just a bit of a process to send and receive.

Really not much to it other than bringing 2 turkey chairs. Hunt it out the sides like you would if you were setup solo.

Which gas stabilizer do yall use

Blue Stabil in everything but my road vehicles. Duck boat gas, lawn equipment, generator, etc. I've never had an issue but I also never let any of my gas sit for more than a year, even with the Stabil.

This is interesting. Doing a little research, it seems like for the extra cost (with Verizon), it's seamless. Apple gives you the Skylo/Spacemobile service for free. It works but you have to go through a process every single time to text AND receive. Looks like with the Starlink upgrade for...

iPhones do track via GPS even offshore. The peculiar piece of the puzzle is: To satellite text, you have to follow the guide on the phone and point it towards the satellite. Yet, they still track you offshore/out of the service area. It begs to wonder why texting via satellite isn't just...

    IN Reach or PLB

Carl, You're right. It's a tough one to think about. Had either of them had the PLB, things might have been different. Up here we do a lot of trolling. It has and continues to happen where someone goes over and no one notices for 5-10 minutes. PLB's save lives in these cases.

I do a good amount of offshore fishing as a captain on our boat. The problem with Starlink is 1) It's only an internet service and 2) If your boat goes down, so does your lines of communication. That nice fancy dish and router, gone. You could be floating in a raft with your communication at the...

The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

Beautiful. The fact that boat was built by Dave says a lot in a good way. Funny because when I saw the first pics you posted, I thought to myself it has an Estuary-like color and finish.

The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

I was always intrigued by them. I had given them some thought, myself, before I bought the DI13. The issue I had was you'd see a lot of them that needed work or possibly were built, not as well. I loved the idea of the size and extra room though. Your rig looks fantastic and unbelievably well...

The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

I typically only set a dozen or so myself. Where we hunt, big spreads seem to be counterproductive. I only hunt puddlers as well. Every now and then I'll throw a small broadbill rig out and/or some brant. Last year, I brought a full set of puddle ducks (12) and a small broadbill rig (16) out...

The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

I've just noticed the TDB14 are a bit more high profile than the others. Really, any would work well. They all have their quirks. I know the TDB14's handle rough water pretty well. Probably even better than the DI13 and the Roy 12. Also, the motorboards have been known to be an issue on the...

The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

I hunt a Duck Invader 13. I think in this day and age, it's the only 2 person boat that's low profile and hides that you'll be able to find. Here is a quick summary: Duck Invader 13: True 2 person boat. I have hunted one with 2 people and a very big lab. It was tight, but it works. It's a more...

What new waders are you guys using?

From what I was told, the Roger's Elites with the zip-out insulation is the old Grand Chesapeake's from Frogg Toggs with a couple tweaks. I've never actually zipped out the liners. I have a pair of Cabelas breathable non-insulated waders I keep for early season and as a back up. My only other...

What new waders are you guys using?

So far, my favorite is the Rogers Elite Breathable waders. For $249 I don't think you can go wrong. The buckles for the shoulder straps took a little getting used to, but other than that, I like them. The handwarmer inside the chest of the wader actually turned out to be a good thing. You don't...

Hunting from fishing boat without a blind

As @Carl said, consider getting a bunch of surplus camo net. If you can get up against a bank, it might just work. With bluebills, I've had them decoy to black duck and puddle duck spreads, bluebill spreads, and pass up everything at times. One of those birds that just depending on the day, may...

Hunting from fishing boat without a blind

I know of someone who has hunted sea ducks from a 30+ foot downeast boat. They would literally drift longlines behind the boat and shoot. I've actually had them buzz us while striper fishing in our 36 foot express, just out of what would be shooting range, for no reason. All the boats I've...
