Rudyard Kipling's "Power of the Dog"

My Flatcoat, Maggie, got bad news from the Vet today...feelings have been said well by others getting the same news on this forum before, thought I'd ask you to google Kipling's Power of the Dog poem...don't know how to attach it here, easy to find. Hits the mark well for anyone that has had a...

    Guyette&Deeter Decoy Auction Portmouth NH

Hope this doesn't fall under "commercial", as it is a great chance for carvers to see classic decoys that won't be sitting on my shelves any time soon: Tue/26 Wed/27 July at the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth NH. Auction, and another room of tables for buy, swap, sell. Make sure you don't wave...

    Gun help/advice

We see a couple 42's every year, $1,000 - $2,000 depending on the usual variables. GunBroker, other auction sites are one way. Larger used gun shops will offer $800 credit/$1,000 retail; likely $650 cash/$1,000 retail, just a rough ballpark. Like others said, do you really need to sell? If so...

Does anyone have a May/June1998 DU magazine and be willing to copy the article on 3 gents that searched out Gordon MacQuarrie's hunting grounds mentioned in his Old Duck Hunter's Association writings? Will also try DU archives, but no luck in my initial attempts. Tom

    Sealing Black Cork

in the late '60's, Soule gave me a gallon of the shoe glue used to seal decoys..They coated the bird, then later just the bottom of decoy; if you find the decoys now, most repair cut spar varnish, and 3 or 4 coats generally seal the black cork. I have his birds sealed this way for 25 years...

    Darn dogs

I have a 7 year old flat coated retriever...snapped acl in right rear leg. Cost of surgery vs "it might sort itself out". Let it be, stopped hard running retrieves...she's been happy and chasing squirrels at full pace. Yes, chance of stress on other pegs is a possibility. No issues to date (two...

    Winchester 101?

The "made in Belgium, assembled in Portugal" is not the Japanese '60's and 70's 101 in any way... Browning (owns Winchester) making due with a recognized tag. We've had new and used 101s; new model never lit the market on fire, but seems to be decent value for the price. Tom
