    Mallard decoys

The word "custom" and "affordable" do not appear in the same sentence very often! Plus there is the subjective term "affordable. What is affordable to you? What level of competency are you looking at? A couple names come to mind for rig birds in cedar or cork: George Williams in Delaware, Clint...

Picked this Aerocraft up today, cool boat

Hey Scott: (I though I had better shout out to you in the forum rather than the classifieds!) I WAS going to take the lazy approach to this and just paint the puppy and put it into the water, but I'm thinking that I should just bite the bullet and strip it down to bare aluminum. What did you...

    Aerocraft 12' Double Ender SOLD

I think it'll sell easily. Do you have it on Craigslist? Myself, I am now down to 2 boats (first time in 25 years)! Just trying to simplify things. I'm not entirely sure what I am going to do. I have been contemplating stencils because I'm lazy and they're easy. With all of the other things I...

    Aerocraft 12' Double Ender SOLD

Scott: I'm sad that you are selling it! It's such a cool looking boat. I finally found out that mine is a '58. I always thought that you did a great job of painting the camo. Any way you could take a few overall pics and some detail pics so I can do the same on my Aerocraft. Many thanks in...

    July "What's on your Workbench?"

Here's a GW Teal I'm donating to the St. Clare Flats Show next month. We decide on a species and all carve one for the rig. The will be auctioned off individually to support the show. It is carved from White cedar and painted with Jansens acrylics. The only airbrushing was on the crest and...

    Maple

Sometimes FREE is just too expensive (in time, money and effort)! I'm sure with enough perseverance, you could make a decoy out of it, but would you WANT to? My suggestion is to find some a willing mentor and some good material, then spend time carving rather than fighting your material. It's a...

    Grassrails

Guys: Thanks for all of the conflicting help! DOH! Really I appreciate it. I'm leaning toward 1/2" clearance with 10" openings and 2" pads. 1 1/2" overall height. I thought about the bungee thingee, I just want something a bit more solid. I have plans to make a dodger and partial cockpit cover...

    Grassrails

I all set to make the grass rails on my boat. I am going with mahogany 4/4. What do you think is the best clearance for the slots? I'm thinking 3/8" by 8" long, 1" between slots. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Drummond Island questions

Jesse: I'm NOT talking from personal experience. A friend has a rustic cabin there and hunts the opener each year. There is a series of flooded ponds on the north end of the island. They hold a lot of local Woodies and Mallards. I don't believe there is an awful lot of action after the locals...

    Question for you Michigan guys

Johm: When I registered my 195? Aerocraft duck boat last year, (it did not have a HIN), they gave me a number and the specs to affix/display them. I used a 3/4" wide piece of aluminum and hand stamped the new HIN into it and then riveted it to the transom.

    Belgium Steel VS Others

I recently had my fathers 1949 A5 Light 12 totally restored. It has a IC, the smith that worked on it said steel was a no-no.

Geoff Vine Decoys for Sale (AUCTION OVER)

Geoff: On the underside of the Bluebills, is that some anatomy that I'm not aware of? What were you using for reference? Kind of looks like my dog Duke......

    Best of a bad choice?

Jeff: I agree the 3hp should get you to where you want to go. On the othere hand, why not rent a motor from the resort? We rented cottages in upper Michigan and Canada for a number of years. Most times taking our own boat. Every resort/cottage we stayed at had some decent reliable boats & motors...

Advice on storage/travel cover for the duck boat

Geeess! Here I am pounding out my questions and you guys are adding on!!! Thanks for the feedback guys! I truly appreciate it. I'm leaning toward what Tod describes, if only for the security. Although, I do like the idea of a soft cover that would cover the cockpit while hunting. If I start...

Advice on storage/travel cover for the duck boat

I want to construct some sort of cover for storage and travel. I guess my choices would be to build a hard cover and coat with fiberglass or have a snap down canvas cover. Optimally, I am leaning toward the hard cover with some sort of facility to lock it down. I would also have a hood made for...

    Memorial Weekend

Each Memorial Day is a somber reminder of the sacrifices made. Thank you for your service to our Country! Thank you to my Son who has chosen to serve the public as a fire fighter now that he has left the Marines. In remembrance of my Nephew who gave all in service to his Country. Rest in...

    universal safety lanyard

It's not hard, I've put several in to much older engines than you have. All of the wires are there, just remove the old one and replace it with a tether style. http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/05/columns/max/3/free.cfm http://www.duckworksbbs.com/hardware/electrical/sd420488/index.htm If...

    2:1 Resin Pumps?

Have you considered mixing by weight as opposed to volume? The ratio is different, but quite easy to work with. I use an industrial 2 part epoxy and can mix in large or tiny batches using a 5# digital scale that shows 1/10th of an ounce. No worry about gummed up pumps, just pour into a container...

18 Year mud motor owner no longer - Outboard Question

Paul: That tidbit of info was offered by Tom Scholberg. It was referring to "old iron" which would be an outboard engine pre 1970 or earlier. In my case, engines of the late '50's. They are notorious gas guzzlers.
