I use starboard as a backing and through bolt the starboard to the roller mount. The plate is high enough not to get bent when backing in around snow or mud. Have not had any issues with plate light!!

I was asked to share the wheel design I use on my trailers. The wheel is a rubber wheel that I purchased from harbor freight and had the mount welded on an existing piece. Being a rubber wheel, it will roll over and through anything. The hard plastic wheels gets stuck. Any questions let me know- Tom
