How I spent my summer vacation....

The neat thing about dories is the more you load them the more stable they get. Honestly though I dont know how far out I would want to get with this one loaded up. It's made more for one or two people rowing, not load hauling. If it were me I would look more toward a Grand Bankes or Texas...

How I spent my summer vacation....

Trying to post a couple of the Bolger designed Glouster Light Dory I put together this summer. I built it on speculation mostly because the shear line in the plans just kept haunting me. I've got a thing for dories anyway, and just couldn't get it out of my head. It's not a duck boat per se...

    Gunning Decoy Eyes

I usually go to http://www.tohickonglasseyes.com/ for the eyes. Cheap, good Quality, fast service. Three votes for me.

    sea foam ?

Loved " TOp Engine Cleaner". Tune-up in a can. The only thing better was Chryslers "Heat Riser Lube". Greatest rust buster ever. Not available now. If it's not hazardous it just doesnt work.

    Winchester Super X Pump

Kind of agree with you Nick. If it's perfect then dont mess with it. However if it's a gun you really want to shoot, and it's yours, then make it shootable. I was going to suggest just opening the choke, but I figured someone would find that just as offensive as the tubes. Terry Weiand did...

    Winchester Super X Pump

No it wouldn't. I assume it's been used and not a wall hanger, a set of tubes is only going to help, and let you use a favorite gun again.

    Hitch in Gray's Sporting Journal

Nice, I will have to grab a copy! Chuck is it just me or has the writing gone downhill? I only grab a copy on occasion so I am not the best judge.

    Poly Vs Epoxy resins

There are some real good discussions about that over at http://www.instantboats.com/. You will have to dig through the message board a bit, but it's well worth it. I havent used enough of either to be a "pro" Hope that helps

    A dog fart....

My GSP usually pulls that trick when your in "his" chair. Then he looks at you until you clear the room. Mission Accomplished.

    Decoy Carving Help

Find other carvers in your area. Sometimes they are the best way to learn. But for sure check out the duck blind. Also John Bourbon used to have a web page with carving tips, give him a shout out here and see if it is still around. Books, I'll probably get shot for mentioning it...

who said a GSP isn't a duck dog?

Not me!! Every year my oldest manages to go out and retrive a few, although at 12 he is pretty content to yet the younger pup get most of them. As a matter of fact he HATES water unless its to go get a duck:) Then its ok.

    Building the DHmini....

Hey Bob, We just replaced all the Bulbs in a sailboat (36') with LED for short cash, and cut the amp draw by more than 50%. I thought considering the life of LED's it was a real good investment. REALLY made sense on the mast light at $50.00/trip for the rigger to go up...
