April what's in your humidor? No fooling

I have to admit my humidor is loaded with pipe tobacco, as my hunting buddy and I bought a 5lb bag of our favorite English blend, trying to beat the revenuers to the punch. This is the first of multiple buys to get ahead of extreme taxes. On the cigar side, I'm down to a precious few El Rey...

    Painting progress...

This not an attempt burst your bubble, but all your decoys are works of art. I realize this will be seen as insult by a decoy "maker", but market gunner up. (hehe)

    Update on Laura...

Great news Rick! Will keep laura in prayer as she continues with the radiation treatments. James 1:12 God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Geoff, if you have the book, "Decoys of the Winnebago Lakes". by Ron Koch, look at Ted Dorschner"s mallard on page 38. See any similarities?

    Another Black Duck Decoy...

Geoff occasionally makes flat bottoms with the wide foot, so we all remember that he is a Wisconsin decoy maker. Beautiful lines Geoff, and nice blend, even though it now stop at the chine. (hehe)

    Deicing Boat From Trailer Question

Just bought my first bunk trailer. Every year I see guys sitting and tying up the ramp, waiting for the boat to unfreeze from the trailer. I have never had this problem with a roller trailer, but the manufacturer recommended a bunk trailer. I hate to tie up the ramps as late season only a few...

    Need Help Finding a Boat!

Carl, the boat you seek is the most common in my area. There is practically an aluminum boat at every home. I saw you considered Michigan, so perhaps Wisconsin will do. Check Craigs list in Green Bay and or Appleton. You should be able to get what you want for around $1000 or less. Do you...

    Old boat restoration advice needed

Rick, contact Alex Nimphius and ask his opinion. The Nimphius family (father and son) have been building wood boats (Nimphius Boats, Inc.) for over 90 years and considered one of the finest wood boats made. They are located in Neshkoro, Wisconsin. Many of their boats cost over$100,000. Ask Alex...

Looking for a carving pattern Help!!!!!!

Gary, after making a half dozen or so of this pose, I recommend anchoring the head to the body for extra strength. On Pete's I ran the head just off the back as I was having a "Crowell" moment. Also consider current if any. the only water open for late season goldeneye hunting is fast moving in...

    Carving tools questions...????

Charlie, I know your question is sincere, but it is like asking , "what do I need to catch fish"? Imo you are best off to get plugged in with a few local makers, and try some tools and different techniques of theirs. I made my first several hundred decoys and Rick Brown asked me what type...

    Glueing decoy halves...

Robie, i believe the glue will hold up. Personally I take the air gun and brad nail mine, so they don't slip around will the glue cures and the seem to hold the bond tight instead of using a vice. Mike
