Great South Bay Scooter Rehab - SEA TRIALS AT LAST !

As always, it is such a delight to read your posts. Especially on the boat projects. Seems to be coming along quite well as always. I can?t imagine there actually being a problem for you with these boats. If it had been ran over with a steam roller I think you could still rebuild it. Thank...

anyone know what this is used for?

Dave, Did this gentleman do a specific type of woodworking? Like boat building, furniture making or whatever. That may lead you toward your answer. Another question I think of is what types of woodworking is common or historical there? That may lead you toward something. To me it almost...

    Spotlights and running lights

Mark, The Stanley lights at tractor supply didn?t mention water resistance that I saw. I just searched and saw this one. https://www.amazon.com/STANLEY-FL5W10-Waterproof-Rechargeable-Spotlight/dp/B003UVCY00 Looks like that might be the way to go for a boat.

    Spotlights and running lights

The little battery for running lights would do. LEDs don?t take hardly any power at all to run.

    Spotlights and running lights

So with the recent project boat I have going I had the thought of spotlights and running lights cross my mind. I ran into tractor supply today to pick up some chicken food and happened to walk by the flashlights. Specifically they had some cordless hand held lights and they ranged in the 400...

    Project Sneakbox

You are correct Dave. I have one of those projects now that I probably should have passed on. Oh well, one day it will be a nice boat and I will know what I have. It is sad to see these old historical wood boats being let go to waste away.

    Project Sneakbox

Add is 2 months old and was updated 25 days ago. If they still have it I bet you could get a deal on it. Attaching pictures here for when the add is gone.

New to me sneakbox build project.

Been chipping away (literally) at some caulking that had been added to the outside perimeter of the hull and cap joint. After removing this, I can see that it looks like the boat was turned upside down and the area where the cap hangs down(when in the upright position) was filled with a resin...

New to me sneakbox build project.

Steve, I will make sure not to do that! I was going to ask you if you had any suggestions on how to figure cloth and resin amounts I will need? I assume I will need a couple of different types of cloth and several layers in some places. Any wood I use I want to make sure that I encapsulate...

    small boat trailers...

The rubber that is the "spring" in the torsion axles will deteriorate eventually. May last longer than leaves, I don't know. But I would definitely do some google searching and see if there are any you tube videos as well. I'm sure that you aren't the first person with this question. I can...

New to me sneakbox build project.

Put bearings in the trailer last night. Just a small piece of the puzzle. I gotta start on the boat asap. I'm a bit nervous about making those initial cuts into it!

    Trailer bearings?

Timken always comes up when talking quality bearings. Unfortunately I didn't use Timken parts. I had a bad hub. Pulled them all apart and one hub was bad. It had been chewed up inside and the outer bearing was sitting too far inward. I picked up hub assemblies from Northen Tool and...

    Trailer bearings?

I'm not sure who made the trailer. I think it is a cox. My suburban has same type bearings on the front. You have to buy the whole hub assembly.

    Vintage Trolling Motor for BBSB

Don't know much about them. But I will say old stuff was made to be serviced. So if you get it and there is a problem with something then I would bet that you could fix it.
