Cork Decoy Keel or No Keel ?

If you need a little weight, pour lead onto the bottom of a greased pop or beer can bottom. Perfect dome you can epoxy to bottom of the decoy, if you don't want to keel them. Nice decoys!

    Winchester Ammo "Rebate" Hoops. I.

Purchased a flat of Drylock Supremes (10 boxes) with the thought of getting back the $50 rebate. In past years to receive a rebate required proof of purchase and the UPC off the case. I requested paperwork to send in to get the rebate, and Winchester has decided to make the buyer cut the UPC off...

    Power of Power Poles?

Wondering if any one has experience with Power Poles on their boat? Considering mounting a pair on my 19' full vee duck boat. -when used with sand or muck bottom, how well will they hold in the wind or a 2' chop? -when buying an 8' unit, is that 8' measured from the mounting bracket on the bow...

Very nice Robert! I really like the depth of paint on the drakes back and the dark hens for overcast days.

    Durability of Collapsible Decoy Bags?

And I thought the holes in the bottom came that way?

    Durability of Collapsible Decoy Bags?

Will soon be purchasing generation 3 of collapsible decoy bags and was wondering what thoughts others had on the toughness of these collapsible bags? I have found Ryobi to tear easy and Fishers to be to brittle in cold weather. Toro have performed the best of the three, but I see there is a...

    Steel Shot performance question

After finally getting my 12a Hellis set up, I tested 4 different steel loads (3 shots each barrel). Although the gun has 3" capacity, all four brands were 2 3/4" shells. Being a pellet count freak (200 pellet minimum), all shells were #4 shot with a max speed of 1400fps. Winchester Super x...

any "seriously knowledgeable" non toxic shotshell reloads out there?

Heavy Weight was sold by Buck Run Sports Supply in Pine Island, MN. The density was up to 13.5. I loaded some goose loads for long distance shooting. Unfortunately, the geese keep coming right into the decoys and it is hard to judge a load at 20 yards.

    Thoughts on Cork Goose Decoys

Though my duck rig is 95% wood/cork, I recently sold off my black cork geese and went to the smaller Avian X plastic geese. Because the goose decoys are handled by the neck, I pillar blocked the breast of my cork so the neck to decoy connection was wood to wood. Unfortunately, this added to...

    Belgium a-5 mag duck

I have seen Belgium full choke steel barrels develop a bulge from use with steel shot. Two options might be to open the choke to light mod or put a Japanese A-5 barrel on the gun for steel shot use. I put the Japanese barrel on my Belgium A-5 and put in an imp mod choke and shot over 3000 rounds...

55hp Evinrude Tiller (pics added 7/25)

This is a 1983 55hp Evinrude manual start tiller handle. I am the second owner, as the motor was bought new by a friend who was a professional marine mechanic. The motor has been serviced annually since it was new. The motor has a 14 pitch prop and a new additional 15 pitch prop comes with...

    Bigfoot 60?

I have a 1983 55hp Evinrude on the boat now. It planes and runs fine with myself, dog, and decoys, but add another person or two and I need a long runway and favorable wind conditions to get up on plane.

    Bigfoot 60?

Does anyone have experience with the Mercury Bigfoot 60hp? Trying to decide between a Merc 1999 optimal 75hp or a 2009 Merc Bigfoot 60hp for the same money. The motor would go on my 19', 97" wide, deep vee duck boat that weighs 2400b with decoys, 3 hunters, and dog. Thanks for any help or...

    Boat Cushions

Does any one know where you can buy the old style class IV kapok filled boat cushions in vinyl or canvas with piping on all the edges? All that seems to be available are the two foam sheets with a loose fitting nylon slip sewn over. The quality of these looks like a middle school homec project.

Installing wood boxes in a boat

Steve, can you post a pic of the storage bench/seat open, so we can see the underside of the top? I too am converting the two stern bench/seats on each side of the motor from open concept, to a sealed storage seat/bench setup. Thanks

    Decoy bottom

Round bottom decoys stabilize faster when riding thru waves. The theory is that after being pulled underwater a round bottom decoy will upright faster before being pulled under again by the next wave.

    Filson

I've always admired the Filson hat, however when 75% of your hunting buddies wear one, and this combined with all the blue 495"s, it begins to look like a Bobbsey twin convention!
