Here is my 1984 10ft Gunning/ Sailing garvey built by Mark Ford. He built 3 of them 2 just for Gunning and 1 as a gunner/sailor. It is10ft long 4 1/2 ft beam. Hull and sides built of Jersey white cedar, ribs are a mix of 1 1/4 cedar & oak and topside is 1/2 marine plywood. She is a speed demon with a 9.9 on her. But she also sails very nice too.

Bob

Either you live in an area whether these things litter folk's yards, or you have really studied the building community and have a sense of where to find them.

One of the things that really appeals to me with the Garvey hull sneakboxes is the slightly higher sides means there is a bit more room under the deck for gear and getting things in and out.

Eric,
Tuckerton is the sneakbox/ garvey capital of the world. But i have studied countless builders new and old and im a 5th generation marina owner my family has been redoing sneakboxs, garveys any wood or fiberglass boats for a long time. I truly studied the different designs and build style.

I will have to agree with you the Gunning Garvey boxs do have higher sides and deck and are alittle more stable.

I am just fortunate enough to be blessed with barns and property to have a collection of gunning boats and save South Jersey gunning History. Its my addiction in my current collection 14 sneakboxs, 3 gunning garveys, 4 pond / ditch boxs and 1 Railbird Skiff.

I know its a far ride for you but you definitely have to get to the Tuckerton Decoy and gunning show one year!
