13hp gdlt on a pirogue?

If the transom doesnt go under just from the weight of the motor, it will when you get in to drive. Or it will capsize/drive the transom under when you make the first turn.
Like others indicated, make to get video. Oh, and make sure to wear a good life jacket.

"...wut yall think about it?..."

I think the nice people told you that you will probably die or perhaps sink your boat because it's really #%@$# stupid to do it. So why ask the question if you're going to be doing it anyway?

God bless you.

I am sure Go-Devil has a response about putting one of their motors on a pirogue. Give them a call.

Your tag line speaks volumes about what you are planning.

I'm laughing my butt off here, just reading this thread. I'd like to see the video too. Hell what's the worst that can happen??? I'll read about you it in the paper or I'll see it on AFV.

Keep us posted.

This is scary, funny and sad all at the same time.

This is either a newb trying to get a rise out of the members with no real intention of trying such a thing. Or, someone with more kahuna's than brains....

I vote on the latter. A couple of years ago a web site in Michigan had a gent state that he just bought a kayak and was going to use it for the 1st time to hunt ducks on Lake St.Clair here in Michigan and asked what people thought of the idea. Several of us who are experienced kayakers told him it duck hunting larger waters in a kayak without any experience was a bad idea and that there was a good chance he would drown. It was and he did. This guy and his pirouge and mud motor sound alot like the kayaker.

Last year at the ramp I saw 2 men in a 12X32 jon with a 9HP GD, no grab rail, no kill switch, a small child, no life jackets of any kind, 2 shotguns, a bag of decoys and an ice chest. The top of the transom could not have been 2 inches above the water line. It was the scariest rig I have ever seen. I was sure they were going to die...but they did not. Of course it is the same as playing Russian roulette. You could spin the cylinder and say " Look ...nothing happened!' but you have just moved closer to the impending disaster. I forgot to mention that this goodfball pulled into the parking lot with 1 wheel missing. It had fallen off "a few miles back". He came rolling in on the hub.
Since my accident last year I feel like the poster child for what can happen when you do something stupid. I mentioned to the man that at the very least he should have life jackets and that it was the law for the child to have one on. He laughed...cranked the motor... and drove off into the night. Oh did I mention...he did not have any lights either.

I remember that and always wondered if anyone found out the specifics of the incident. The conditions, where he was etc. Iuse great care when hunting out of my kayak but the grief from parents and in laws after that incident was heavy.

A 30" bottom is a SKINNY bottom width for a longshaft prop to be swinging around on the stern of. And the more HP that you're swinging around - 13HP- the skinnyer it is, not to mention that load of too many people for that little boat.

All of that being said by me and others, the gentlemen of this sight are a great bunch of people and will probably be willing to make some kind of memorial contribution for the family members that will be left behind.
