2025 Devlin Snow Goose Thread

Thanks Steve!

1 - yes, frog tape. I've used it for years on home painting projects and prefer it to blue tape. Comes off the roll pretty easily, and also off the surface easily, yet sticks well enough for painting.

2 - Scott Logan was very responsive to my questions when I was researching. scott.hogan@wearloncorp.com is his contact info. I generally considered weight in my thinking, but don't think I ever asked how much it added. I was considering a dynel, and just figured wetlander would almost certainly weigh less than dynel plus extra epoxy.
I doubt weight will be a significant factor. The bottles don't feel like a super dense liquid, and some weight will disappear during drying/curing. I'm looking forward to trying to pole my boat across the front lawn. Probably will be a fail, but it'll be fun to try.

So you did the double layer tape as recommended? I'm toying with one layer, remove after priming, then retape. Just me being non-conformist.

Bottom finished, now just a week-long wait before flipping. Will hit a period of limited work after flipping due to some planned trips, so slow will actually be creeping. But I'll be glad to be on the other side of the boat.

Wetlander topcoat went on pretty much the same as the primer - heavy initial fish-eyeing but went away with secondary roll and subsequent coats. I got 3 thin coats out of the half gallon.

Hi guys. Have not been active for a while.
I am still running my Snow Goose on LI.
I made some mods like a double tank shelf in the bow and a leaning post with GPS…
Other smaller stuff too: gun rack, bow chock, under gunnel lights,
Do you want pics and where do you want them?
This thread?

Of course we want pictures!

Though I'm totally good with posting them in this thread, starting a new thread would help then stand out amd maybe make them easier for folks to find in the future.

How many guys you got coming over for the flip? Or will machinery/hoists be involved?
We definitely cant wait to see her right side up!

We'll see - sent a note out to a group of friends to come have a beer after work and help flip, hopefully 4 or 5 can make it. Should be light enough that a couple could easily lift it, but 4+ should make very easy work of it. If only a couple make it, may use my engine lift on one end. Plan is to lift it off and set it down on the ground as is, install the last cradle board, then flip and drop back on the moveable platform.

Looks like you are well prepared for the flip. It definitely takes 4 people to flip a duck boat gently. Me and my brother flipped over the TDB before I started my project, of course I got the aft end. I think my back is still hurting from that

Those TDB style boats are not lightweight. You must be a power lifter. :D

Henry,
Very beautiful work! My only suggestion is to be sure to cover the sides before beginning work on the inside. Initially I did not cover the sides on my boat because I underestimated the difficulty of fillets and taping, but quickly did so after a couple of mishaps. RM
