We started early this morning making use of my buddy's equipment, his excavator, front end loader and 5 yard dump truck. We took what was left of last summers 3" minus road base rock up at the pit and used it to rock the base of the road from where the new house will be up to the pheasant pens.
He he brought me a 20 ft. long 12" culvert and we installed it first in the low spot that drains down through the south side of the 6 acre food plot into the upper pond.

We will dig out & rock line the drainage fron the culvert to the pond.

First load of 3" minus went over the culvert in a double thick layer.

A few loads later we had it up to the pheasant pen.

By the last load we had it all the way up where the quail pens will be. Sunday morning Bob will spread it out and compact it with his excavator.

After the road base rock is in place we will haul down the granite boulders I have picked out for the cabin foundation timbers, so I can get that started.
Then in the next few days we are going to load up all the rock that is up at the rock pit and truck it down to an area west of the barn where we plan to stock pile it for future use and sales. If the people accept my cointer offer escrow will close the 29th of this month and I don't want to leave any of that granite behind that I sat aside last summer at the rock pit. I have most of it sold anyway and need to have it where I can load it onto dump trucks.
Had teh first two Mexican Speckled Quail hatch this morning and they are doing fine. The chukar are really starting to grow now and the pheasants are doing great. You can see the colors starting to show on the roosters now that they are 3/4 grown.
Judy has spent the last few days digging up dozens of plants around teh hiuse that she wants to have for later. She has about 10 different old world roses she's taken starts from. She's moved about 40 pots of plants and roases down by the barn where she's watering them everyday. Landscaping should be no problem for her when the new house is ready.
Yak wid ya later,
Dave
