A day to remember NDR

I had the opportunity to help out a Terminally ill person on an elk hunt last Saturday.

The state has a program where they will issue a tag to terminally ill people, one of the best things to come out of the Game dept in a long time. The guy who had set the whole process in motion contacted me about hunting out east of my place.

I was able to get permission to hunt a ranch a good friend owns, it is a major stop over spot for the elk in the late winter as they wait for the snow to melt in the higher country that most of the elk summer in.

We were constantly in elk all day and after several failed attempts to get Troy set up on the shooting bench we carried on the back of the second quad we finally got a bull to stand still long enough.
Troy is totally paralyzed on his right side from brain surgery, we had to carry him from the quad to the shooting bench each time we tried to get set up.

It was a long day but well worth it to see the smile on his face after it all came together.Truly one of the better days in my lifetime!

I found a nice set of fresh sheds from a 6x8 bull, he dropped them just as you see them.

That looks like a hell of a good time to me.

Good on you for getting out and giving it a go, elk or none,

you still got your buddy out for some time outdoors, and there is always adventure in that.

Fred, that is AWESOME! Good for you and congratulations to your hunter on his beautiful bull.
